OH SO WRONG!!
« on: October 27, 2003, 03:43:17 AM »
I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to all on this forum.  I will be contacting some of you by email.
A little explanation is probably due you.  Back last winter, I was diagnosed with some pretty bad news medically.
I went into deep depression and the last few months have been pretty "foggy" in my mind.  I made up my mind to
die and be done with it all!!  Life seemed to hold no future and I strongly contemplated suicide.  I know this may
seem to be the coward's way out but I was in so much pain and my mind was so screwed up from a chemical
imbalance in the brain (just a another way of saying depression) that I did not care.  This went on for several months
and I had to close my businesses and lost much of what I had.  There were days and weeks that the only thing I
would do was go sit in my pasture and think about dying.  I cut off the whole world along with my
family and friends.  I would not answer the phone, would not let anyone visit, and would not email
friends or participate in anything.  I even went so far as to destroy much of my trapping equipment.

PLEASE!!  If I have wronged anyone of you, please email me (rascal@clnk.com) and I will do everything in my
power to make it right.  I am still man enough to do that.

I finally took the advice of Wackyquacker and got help for the depression.  The cancer is in remission and
the blood sugar under control.  I thank God for the people who would not let me give up and who kicked the
seat of my pants to help get me back on track.  When the mind goes bad, things really get screwed up.

I sincerely hope all of you good folk will give me a second chance.  I cannot apologize enough!!!

I will not be buying fur or skulls any longer.  I just can't hold up to it and now don't have the financial
resources to do it even if I wanted to.

My first love (other than my family) has always been trapping.  This year I am going to try and make
a few sets.  I have even gone back to some of my old locations and THE FUR IS THERE.
I wont be able to do much but maybe I can catch a  couple of coyote, fox and cats.

One final note:  If any of you feel that you are in depression-- please seek help and if you would like to
talk with a fellow who can tell you all about it and can lend a sympathetic ear, just email me.  I know
first hand what "living hell" is like and will do anything to help someone else avoid what I have been
through.

Joe, When you "signed off" even though you didn't say what was wrong, I knew what it was. you left plenty of clues and I recognised them. At the same time we were fighting to keep dad alive. He had cancer and we lost that battle on mother's day. Anyone who has ever gone through this hell knows what you have gone through. It is not just the person who has the disease who suffers. The family and friends suffer too. I think that most of the people who you got to know through this forum and other places understand and though nobody said it, I think everyone had a pretty good idea what was going on.
I had not been on this forum very long when you left. It was just long enough to know that you were a likable person and that you would be missed.  I do know that there were several people who were worried about you and they asked on the forum about you.

Cancer is a real bastard. It robs you of your strenghth and your thoughts while on the treatment. My dad was convinced that someone came and stole the roof off of the house. He was OK after I "pointed out that they put it back". When someone is going through the treatment, they say and do things that they don't mean. My friend Theresa tried to kill her husband because he made toast. The chemicals made her psychotic. She knew it was wrong, but she had no control over the drugs. Her husband ubderstood so if you said any crappy things to anyone, they should be able to understand. (You didn't try to kill any of them  )
I for one am glad to see you back on the forum. Stay with us and we can help you through the hard times. That is what the brotherhood of trappers do.

THANKS FELLOWS!

Foxtail:  I know what you also went through.  I watched my dad die a painful horrible death with cancer about 5 years ago and I think that had something to do with my feelings.

WC:  That does stand for water closet don't it?  Thanks Wackyquacker for all you have meant to me.

Ace;  Thanks so much.  Now do you think that even in my demented state that I would have thrown your lures out??  No way.  Thank goodness I still have a few ounces of the coyote and fox lures I got from you.  I plan to put them to heavy use come Dec.  If all goes well, I will sure be getting more from you.

Horn:  Anytime man!  just stop in but not when I am out trapping--LOL

Fellows:  I just got back in from doing a little scouting and I feel SO GOOD!  I could drive to most of my locations but did have to walk about a 1/4 mile and it winded me a little but sure was nice.  I can actually do walking now!  I even got to jump a coyote out of its bed and watched him lope off.   I know where I will be setting a scent post and flat set for him 8)  GOSH this feels so good!  The paxil helps but I think just getting out the last few days has been great therapy as well.

WATCH OUT you guys!  I'm back and mean as can be!!!!!

HEY RDFX;
Good to hear from you as well and thanks for the good times and help you have been.

Don't you think it is time now to stop the Wacky Quacker  (I still haven't figured out his real name  :P  ).  Wacky seems about right.   Anyone who would eat donkey burgers and send people their heads has to be a little unbalanced  .  I think he is wanting to be the Godfather since he sent me burro heads and put out a contract on you with trappnman.

P.S.  Dang that maple syrup was good!  Sure not that store bought junk!

Newt:
The real answer to your real question is NO!!!!!!!!  No pink truck or anything in that particular color!!!!!!!!

Rat guts??  What kind - barn rat?  muskrat?  Qualify which your are referring to since I use both for trapping bait.  Muskrat carcass on yotes and barn rats in a big hole for the meow kitties.

NO !  the pork chops are good bait for me though.  To bad though-- having to watch what I eat these days and I love pork chop.  Got to stay with the fish, chicken etc.  OH BULL!  I am to old to watch my diet much.  I just had me a mess of mama's tators and gravy along with to big ole minute steaks.  That'll tick the doc off though

On the subject of bait-- I sure like feral cat for the canines with beaver hard to beat as well.  Not much on using bait for cats though.  Like a good flag, with some lure and urine.  I like using strips of antelope hide for flagging.   Now before you tell me there ain't no antelope in Oklahoma-- your right, but have a friend in Montana  who sends me hide strips.  Dang, those cats will sit up and take notice.

For the coon bait-  maybe a little eye of Newt since it is Halloween.

Your Fight

I gotta hand it to you. It' takes a man of great stature to come onto a forum like this and spill out your innerds. Besides being a trapper, I am also a Registered Nurse. I'm so glad to hear you are taking anti- depressants to help you during this battle. Believe me, I see the evils of CA way to often. The body and the mind are connected and you need both to function. You can't concentrate on licking this demon if your mind is not cooperating 100%. Keep your attitude and spirits up! We only have one life and you need to fight for it with everything you have. I wish I had some pearls of wisdom for you. Just keep fighting the good fight. Hang out in the woods and enjoy what God has given you and me. Good luck and God bless!

rascal(Joe Duncan),  I am not a trapper but I am so glad that you are back because we have really missed you here at GBO.

I don't know if you know this are not but I am a cancer survivor and I know all about the depression that you were talking about. I was told that I had cancer back in 1991.

Welcome Back Joe. Man that is some FANTASTIC NEWS!!! As we discussed by phone way back when, Faye fought the battle with cancer and won. She's been free of it a long time now. I wish the same for you. It is so great to see you back with us and in good health and of good cheer.

SHUT UP, Wack, I may just take a pic since my looks have changed quite a bit now.  You can put copies near your set and I feel sure the canines will be attracted to it   Of course, you may have to run the circle birds off.

Viagra?  What is that- sounds like some kind of vitamin to me

Oh yeah;  Viagra was that Portugese girl I went with many years ago. Man, you get as old as I am, and you are really really lucky just to remember her name.
