paper patch reduced loads
« on: December 28, 2009, 06:06:32 PM »
hello,...only reload for 30-30- right now but i have recently done some reduced loads with unique and 110 grain bullets...........works well.........shot one squirrel with my 30-30 tc 14 in and hit right where i was aiming......question..i have always read about reduced loads in 30 cal with #1 buck and always thought about trying them, then somewhere the other day i saw where someone paper patches them in 30 cal......is that necessary and/or does it work better than just seating a buckshot and to ask another stupid question,  how do i paper patch a buckshot?......thanks mack

You don't. Just coat them with Lee tumble lube, thumb press into a unsized case, and shoot. BTW, #0 buck works in my 30 cal. rifles. #1 is too small. I also drill out the flash hole on cases designated for this, I get better accuracy and the primer doesn't back out as bad. Loads are in the range of 2 grains of Bullseye in the 30-30 or 308. One hole groups at 25 yards, very little noise.

I guess you could, but I doubt it would matter one way or another.
