Turkish Mauser Question
« on: December 29, 2009, 06:52:53 AM »
I recently picked up an old Turkish Mauser (my first) that I thought to be a 03/38, as that's the only one I've ever heard of.  When I was asked what date was stamped on it by someone,  I told the fella 1936, he said that there was no way it was an 03/38.  He said that '38 was rare, '39 was uncommon and most dates would be in the '40's, all that said he couldn't tell me what I did have.  I took a picture of the stamp, and another of the bolt/safety to aid in identification.  If anyone know what this rifle is I sure would appreciate any info you may have, and if different pictures would help I'd be glad to supply those, just tell me what you want to see.  This is a long rifle being almost 49" overall and what looks to be a 29" barrel, the magazine does not protrude/the floorplate is almost flush with the stock, and the guy I bought it from gave me some 1941 headstamp 8mm Turk ammo.  Thanks in advance for your help, JR

I think it should be 1936. just my opinion although. If i was the first user i would never put a wrong year in such a wonderful weapon. so, I think it is 1936 :)
