Best quality 454 brass ??
« on: October 27, 2003, 06:43:03 AM »
I have only used Hornady 454 brass in my SRH. Although I have not experienced any problems with this brass, I am interested to know who has had either good or bad experiences with Winchester, Starline or other available 454 brass.

Ready to make another brass order and would rather make an informed decision.

I've had real good luck with Starline brass and the price/service is outstanding.

While speaking with Steve at Hornady today I asked about their .454 Casull brass. He says they have made a metallurgical change and now it is shooting fine from both the RB and SRH they have on hand for trying ammo in. He is sending me some of both the 240 and 300 XTP loads to try in my RB which didn't work with the earlier lots of Hornady brass. Will be reporting back on it here when I get it and get a chance to see how it works.

The original Freedom Arms brass is best followed by Starline.
Winchester is the worst!
