Welcome Jeff! H&R(there's no NEF any more) hasn't used GM barrels for several years, all barrels are made by Marlin and will be until later in 2010 when H&R starts making their own barrels. Read some of the previous threads on 17hmr accuracy, there are lots of praises on them, they're very accurate.  ;)

Well I looked at the .22 Mag Barrel and like you said I couldn't find GM on the barrel. About 10 years ago I had another sportster and it was a GM. Live and learn. The reason I said NEF was because thats what it said on the order form,Didn't know it was gone to.
Does the 17HMR Bull barrel still come with a Recessed Target Crown?  Thanks Jeff  ;D

Yes, recessed target crown. Yes, there are a few places on the website that show lingering remnants of NEF, lots of other typos too, the only NEF branded products still sold are the imported repeater shotguns, they don't even deal with them in Ilion, service is done thru Marlin in North Haven CT.
