Finally got the one's I want.

I got all the "good" Handi's now.

22 Hornet
30-30
32-20
357 Mag
38-55
44 Mag
45-70
20ga. Shorty
12ga. Shorty
And my newest......a 20ga. Tracker I

I've got the rimmed Handi's, the shorty's and a Tracker I.
I'm a happy Handi owner. ;D ;D

Spankster.. I gotta say I see some holes up there.....  :o ;D

Where is the 357 Maximum?? Where is the 17M2?? What about the USH's??? Oh and there is so many favorites too!!  280, 308, 223, 45Colt....  ::)

You have a VERY good start there, but you aint close to having all the "good" handis!!

There are some holes in the lineup but I'm covered for anything I want to do. I really want to stick with the rimmed rounds too. I've had alot of the other calibers and traded them or sold them off to get the ones I have now.

I think I know what you mean. I also prefer the rimmed stuff... I transformed my 308 into a 307, for this vary reason!!!

You have the same disease we all have... your kidding your self if you think you will be satisfied with what you got.  ::) ;D ;) ;)

BTW, the first three I mentioned, the 357Maxi, 17M2 and USH's ARE all rimmed chamberings!!  ;D ;D

I know your asking for Spanky's, but I have a couple too!!

This is a older version with a snap on for-end and walnut stocks. I chopped it off @ 19" and mounted peep sites and a Pachmayr Decelerator pad.


This is my pride and joy. Given to me by my grandfather. Its a 1920's H&R TAKE-DOWN! It was badly rusted for the 8-10" to the muzzle. There is little to no orig finish left. SO, I chopped it off so the barrel and stock/receiver are the same length. (About 19.5") Then I put on a big brass bead for a front site. I left the LEATHER recoil pad that he had on it when HE GOT IT!!!


Here is a Savage 219 chopped down to 20" and fit peeps and a front site.

I love that old takedown. ;) I'm pretty sure that one's got a home for life don't it. ;D
I have a Glenfield 30-30 that my granddad gave me... it's not going anywhere either.

How are you mounting the peeps on yours?? I have beads on mine. (The 20 shorty has a bead and is drilled a tapped wearing a 4x Simmons) I'd like to silver solder a set of peeps on my 12 shorty.

I drilled and tapped mounting holes.....
I have a bunch of Contender sites. I like them, they are well build and durable. The rear peeps are Williams peeps.

I have read all the stories about not tapping 12Ga barrels. I haven't had any issues, but the peep sites weight is infinitesimal compared to a scope setup. I think this is where and what people dislike about drilling a 12Ga.

You guys want to talk about a line-up? The only three left on my list are 357 MAX, 20 USH (Thumbhole Gray/Black Lams), and 30 Remington.

I have 60 boxes of 30 Rem laying around since my Model 14 got to unsafe to shoot! I suppose I could get a 30-30 barrel and have a rimless cartridge extractor conversion done? I hope so anyway!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, you want to get something you can convert to the 30 Rem. I think a rebarreled 6.8 spc bolt gun would be fun......

What I truly want is a Remington Model 141 pump (the newer version of the Model 14) in about 75 - 90 % condition, but you would have to mortgage the homestead to purchase one in that condition. Only collector will have a 50 year old gun in that condition and they generally won't sell.

I found my 141 at a Garage sale, it is a 90 % + piece. Paid $250.00. This is one sweet shooter. I use the same lead bullet & loading as my 30-30. She is a tack driver.
This one was made first year of production 1936, when they changed from the Model 14.
What is nice, the tube Magazine is designed so pointed bullets can be used. Remington had a Patent on this concept, a cork-screw design. Because of this, 141's are easy to spot. This is a unique feature.
Also all 141's are take-down.

I had to pass on a 141 in .35 Rem. about 11 years ago. The rifle was absolutely mint and priced right at $400. Sadly I'd just lost my job and was afraid to spend the money. I've been searching for another ever since.

Keep an eye on the used guns at the Kittery Trading Post in Maine. They ship to other dealers I think, and I've seen the 141's there off, and on. Their web site is www.ktpguns.com

We are kinda hijacking Spanky thread here....

I'll ad that I am lucky enough to have a early Rem 14 in 35REM its a carbine with factory peeps!! I'll say its a solid 80% gun. Its defineately a "keeper" Its double silicone socked right next to my 35Rem Marlin marauder. ::)

I wish they'd come out with a 35 Remington Handi. I'd have one of them too. ;)
The thought of a USH is tempting sometimes but not being able to use shot loads in them is the deal breaker for me.

 Remember the 35rem is a rimless and has been known to have its head space issues similarly to the 35 Whelen. A nice 35 cal candidate albeit a dated one would be the 35Winchester. Nice ballistics, a healthy rim and major history!!! Just food for thought my friend....  ::)

Hey Spanky, besides the 45 colt you are also missing the 444 Marlin and the 500 S&W in the rimmed offerings.

These Handi's are like Lays potato chips, you can't have just one.
