Accuracy

I have recently traded for a 25.06 h & r. I have yet to shoot it as I just put my scope on it. I am wondering what kind of accuracy i should expect. I am not shooting handloads. Also what is normally the most accurate h&r barrel. I want a good tree stand gun for deer. something short and light. Thanks in advance.

Since buying My Handi 45/70 a couple of years back for my state's primitive weapons deer season it is my pick for a treestand gun in the woods regardless of the season. But while they have you receiver there getting the 45/70 barrel you might as well get it fitted for 30/30, 7-08 or .308 and the .22 Hornet.

The 45 Colt Carbine would probably be just the ticket, I just had one in my hands, it is short and light, probably just what you need.  Larry

Typical accuracy for a 25-06 with factory ammo and no forend work is two shots touching or real close to touching and the third opening the group up to 1"-1¼", mine does it with Rem 120gr, Fed 115gr NP and Hornady 117gr BTSP.  ;)
