Holster Choice

What would be a good holster choice for a gp 100 6''  for hunting,non-scoped? Doesn't have to be an over the shoulder type.Just wondered what everybody liked .

  All my leather, with one exception (it came with the gun) is from Mitch Rosen.  More $ but IMO, very much worth it. Perfect fit and feel and outstanding craftmanship.  Not the mass produced fodder at all.

I have gone almost entirely to cross draw, Bianchi 111 or Cyclone model holsters. It is comfortable to wear while in the truck, on the ATV or the horse. You can find them used on eBay or GunBroker. They are worth the $80 price tag new. The other nice thing about cross draw is that you don't hit your long gun on the grip if you carry one. Shotgunner

Well...I donno..I've got quite alot of holsters...lots of custom holsters from Milt Sparks, Mitch Rosen and others...mostly for concealed carry...nothing like them.  For hunting...I've been happy with a bianchi Accumold for my SW29 4" and a Uncle Mikes synthetic for my 6" 29.  Custom leather is just the nuts!!!  But it's expensive and I've not found it to be woth the extra money...FOR ME.  I'd have no qualms about getting a custom rig is that's what you want.

I build most of my own rigs, and like the left side butt forward cross draw a lot.

I don't use it for "social" carry, but for other then that it is the only way.

You want the gun to have a forward rake and to ride high.

I usually carry just forward of left center and this is a sweet way to carry while on the 4wheeler or in the rig.

You might check out Simply Rugged on the net for good solid leather at a reasonable price.

Rob is good to deal with and will likely work with you if you have some ideas.

I just make my own holsters. Helps pass these winter nights. I find myself using cross draw rigs more often in the field.

  I just got a Simply Rugged holster last week. I had heard a lot about them and everything I heard was good so I thought I'd give it a try. Nothing to complain about. everything is ad advertised. I'm not sure if I can get used to the lack of a thumb snap but I'll give it a try. It seems to fit my 4" Redhawk like a glove.  When I got mine I ordered it on Wed and it was in the P.O. Box that Sat. I have been told that they have started running behind a bit now though.
