What does 12.1 trillion divided by 450 million come to? This should give us a ball park figure on how much per capita our dept is.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

I belive there are 300 million in this country. And that included somewhere between 10 and 15 million illegals that don't pay anything. Not sure how many are on welfare, or just don't earn enough to pay. I'd bet the figure is more around 200 million, in which case the figure is, damn, my calculator doesn't go that high. I think I remember seeing the figure somewhere around $33,000 to $35,000 per person. There, doesn't that make you feel much better. (still early in the morning, wonder if that bottle of gin is handy?!)gypsyman

Tell Obama to quit writing checks!  At this point half the country belongs to the Chinese.  Big government will only make this debt worse.  I am worried that by the time my kids are in the work force, that the dollar won't be worth a thing

You are correct on the population Gypsy. That makes our dept 40,333 per person roughly. Now figuring in the parasites the people that are doing the paying are in the hole over 50 grand each.

Yep, that fine conservative G. W. Bush added about 4.5 trillion to the national debt.  Where were all of the Republicans when Bush was writing his rubber checks?

That's a college education for everyone in the country.

Prices for that have been going up too.  $40,000 might have gotten you an education at a state/public university 10 years ago (it won't even get you 1 year at some of the private colleges), but these days even that is approaching $60,000 over 4 years.  Only way to swing it now would be to put in 2 years at a community college and transfer - which is a crapshoot.  Depending on what community college you go to (some are way better than others) and which school you transfer to you might just be overwhelmed when you get to the university.  I'm sure this, along with everything else, will continue to get worse if the economy continues how it is.

So let's say we get everyone in America a college education. Where will they all work? In a pipe dream world no one would have to wash the feces down in a pig barn or work on an assembly line. But in the real world we do need manual laborers. Also how many of these folks that would be "given" a college education will applie themselves enough to pass? A college education is better earned than given. Anyone who truly wants a college education will get one. The ones who wine and cry that they cannot afford to go to college are actually the ones who do not want to do what it takes to earn it.

Alsaqr:

Yep, he, more than any other individual contributed to the death of the republican party. Bush was the one that started the feeding frenzy and now it just has to run its course. I give him a lot of credit for his anti-terrorism policy and leadership. But that's all I give him credit for. I've heard many times that Obama is a thousand times worse than Bush. I think they're the same, just a little different on a few ideological things.

I read somewhere that only about 40% of the population actually pays income tax. I think we're gonna need Dave Ramsey to get us out of debt.

When you look at the tax sceme, you see even though public employees are required to pay taxes there is no net gain to taxes paid to the country. There is only tax money paid to public employees then part of that tax money they are givin is taken back.

That is all paper money, fancy stuff for sure but still paper with "Federal Reserve Note" printed on the top, not Silver Certificate or other precious material.

What is important is" How much US owned gold is in Fort Knox and who would tell the public the truth.

In truth, the national debt skyrocketed under Reagan [who told us it wasn't important and the great unwashed masses believed him] and continued to skyrocket under Bush 41, Clinton, and Bush 43. It appears that it will continue to skyrocket under Obama. Put your cash in European banks. The Euro continues to grow against the dollar. On the other hand, if your cash is going to things like living expenses and paying off debt, you are pretty much screwed. I just fritter away my extra cash so I'm pretty much screwed too.  ;D
