Toay's paper had an article about the Inuitup in Labrador- seems polar bears were harrasing the camp and they needed more shells- so they airdropped a couple of boxes of ammo to them- and -you guessed it- 243.Don't know how comfortable I'd feel tackling a 1500 lb polar bear with a 243- but that's what they were using-probably the rifles they use for seal.
