Price check on 336?
« on: January 01, 2010, 05:31:20 AM »
I have a lead on a used 336 in .30-30.  I don't know what version  of 336 it is but the stock is Walnut... not hardwood. Seems to be in excenent shape.  What would I expect to pay for one.   Seems like I recall new 336 with hardwood stocks selling for about $350.00... which is the asking price of this one with a Bushnel scope.
Thanx!

I'm not really sure what the going rate is, or what kind of condition the used one that you are looking at is in. But, I can give you my take on what I'd pay. ;)

If the one you are looking at is indeed the Walnut model and it is in excellent condition (at least very good condition), and it is old enough not to have the cross bolt safety, then I'd pay $350 for it. But, if it's a newer model, I'd save a little more money and get a newer model stainless steel 336. That's just how I look at though. Sorry if that doesn't help out much. ;)

That's a good price especially with walnut furniture on it. I just saw a new one at Gander the other day for 599.99 in 30-30. Buy It!!!!!!!!!!

I saw that my 336CS was still available, researched the CS and they are no longer made.  What say you, my esteemed colleagues?  Should I pull the trigger at $350.00?

I have looked at 10-12 336's in the past 6 months, all mint or close, some scoped, for $220-325 all in. All walnut, all pre safety. I would pay that much for a perfect one with incredible wood. Else, I'd wait and save $100. Depends how big an itch you need to scratch.

If it's a walnut stocked .30-30 in really good shape $275.00 to $300.00 would be about right.
