nuther' question
« on: January 01, 2010, 05:55:30 AM »
this one is concerning the t/c encore composite stock,,,a couple friends that have composite stocks have told me i could remove the recoil pad and stuff rhe stock with either a craft item (angle hair) or either styrofoam p-nuts and it would help the handling of the rifle and absorb some recoil..anyone ever do this  or heard of it

I did that once, but not for recoil but for noise. It seemed like everytime I went to stalk something I'd make contact with somthing and get this big bonk and needless to say I did'nt like that

I have heard of guys spraying foam insulation in the stock-----Like tcbnick said it was for noise reduction.

I used high quality carpet underlayment (pad) folded and stuffed tight. It works very well. Helps to balance the rifle better, stock sounds solid withouth the hollow sound. I put on one of the very soft recoil pads at the same time so I think that is what softened the recoil. It made a huge possitive improvement.

you all wereright, after asking them again about the recoil ,they said that stuffing the stock was'nt to help recoil ,but the bumping hollow sound while huntin.said even a limb rubbing across it would scare deer 100 yd's or more..guess i'll come up with something..(spray foam) reckon' that will do it               thank's again
