Saw a little of Palin on O'Riley Factor
« on: January 01, 2010, 06:16:41 AM »
Caught a couple of minutes while I was at work. I got the impression Mrs Palin is a business woman and thinks like a business woman about finance and solving money problems for her citizens, not being cool on camera.

O'Riley hit her with questions that required a politicians "polished" response of being smooth and cool off the cuff to look good on camera, she paused and answered well in a defensive manner.  If she thought like a politician she wouldn't be one I would want to support.

With practice and the right preperation for the right questions with the right coaches Mrs Palin would look as polished as all the other politicos that have the party resources. All she has to do is develope an "act" for the camera like all the "profesional" politicians. eddiegjr

I did not see the interview you are talking about, but I have seen her talk policy before.  And when I say talk, I mean spew non-sensical clich้s in response to every question.  She may have a future in Alaskan politics, but she is done as a viable national political figure.  I do find it funny how many people still can't get enough of her though.  I wonder if that would be the case if she were 300 lbs and looked like Rosie?

I like her, she seems like a nice person with a good grounding... but she's done.  I can see the question now:
"So you somehow managed to spin walking out on your elected state position as a responsible decision.  Congrats to your PR people on a job well done.  Now, what happens if your old enemies start suing you while you are president (or vice president, or senator, or whatever)?  Can we assume that since quitting was the right decision before (and never mind all the money and books and stuff), will you quit again?"

One can assume that the answer will be full of spunk, completely non-sensical, and about as deep as a plastic kiddy pool.  She's done.

For president in 2012?  I will wait and see who runs... seems like the reasonable thing to do to me...  I like some of the things Ron Paul says, but then he uncorks some crazy talk that destroys the possibility of mass appeal.  I like some of the things Mike Huckabee says, but that whole paroled bad guy thing will probably doom him.  I'm sure Mitt will be back, and he has "the look".  I've always hoped that Lamar Alexander would gain national attention... but it hasn't happened.  Perhaps Kansas's own Sam Brownback will run, but I've never been a huge fan... I'm more of a "small government-libertarian" type conservative than an "impose a Christian religious state" type conservative.  I don't make my decision based of any issue as much as taxation and government spending, meaning that I generally vote for someone who disagrees with me on lots of things... Despite being pro-choice I don't believe I've ever voted for a national politician I agree with on that issue...  but unless I run myself, I will never find a candidate who matches me perfectly.

November 2012 is a long ways away and a great deal can change in this country between now and then.  I believe the time may be right for a real third party candidate, not just some single-issue nut job.  I believe it would improve this country tremendously for a small government social moderate with youth and energy to run third party (perhaps after losing the Republican primary because they are, "not conservative enough") under the "kick all the parties out" type campaign.  Only then is there a hope that the major parties will try to represent actual people and not moneyed interests.

I had some serious discussions with some of our State Legislatures last week about Sarah Palin.  The general consensuses is that she is great at energizing the people, She speaks from the heart, She wants to do best for the State Of Alaska, and tries her level best to accomplish that.  Sarah's problem being new to politics she was unable to see the snakes in the grass, and they kept biting her.

We are hoping she will run for the US Senate seat from Alaska in November. With a few years under her belt as a Senator, she would get the experience in DC politics to then be able to cover her backside.  And stomp the snakes.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

dukkilr, wait and see is what lets someone else decide who runs. I want to throw a few coppers at a few someones that I like now and hope one will rise to the top. May take a few rounds for them to get things built/fashioned to where the "public" will support them.

Now this makes more sense to me, than running for a cesspool office like the Presidency.!
We need good, moral people like Palin and Paul in these positions.

I agree with our resident attorney that Sarah might have hurt her case, but I'd still vote for her.  Just consider what we're saddled with now and tell me that any of you wouldn't rather have Sarah Palin taking care of things.

On the other hand, I like very much what I see in Dan Lundgren, or maybe Darrel Issa.  I don't know if I spelled their names right, but they are both Congressmen from California.  As hard as it might be to believe that California can produce anything but fruits and nuts, they do turn out some good guys too.  After all, one of the best Presidents we've had, came from there.

I think so many people underestimate Sarah Palin. She comes into office and ran out all the corrupt Republican politicians, and got them in orange jump suits in prison. The Democraps jumped for joy and were patting each other on the back, because she took out Republican Politicians. When she was chosen to run with the sorry piece of crap McCain, she was held back but the McCain party, but the Democraps were shaking in there boots and attacked her on all fronts.

The began to file ethic violation after ethic violation to make it hard for Sarah Palin to do her job, once Obama and his dumb buddy won the election, the Republicans turned on Sarah Palin as well. As for as stepping down as Governor of Alaska, why not, she was in court more then in her office, and fighting ethic charges filed by both parties. So I don't blame her for leaving office early.

I would love to see her run for President in 2012, she has more guts than any one else out there with Political aspirations.

Redhawk, similar to how I feel. Repubs are coorporate and huge sums of the bail out went to save the Republican sponsored deregulated banks. Republicans supported thier bailout first of all before Bush left. As far as who made the money from them, real estate and banks, Freddie and Fanny come under the same light.

The Democrats don't need much explaining as ignorant as thier leadership is.

Like some here have said, the sooner it gets as bad as it can get the sooner it has a chance to get better.

I will support those with views I agree with wheather they "appear" they can win or not. Sarah Palin and a few others will get my support in hopes one will build steam.

Ride it out.

eddiejr, I don't think you can blame this economy on just that. Many more things come into play. Clinton with his butt buddy Barney Frank forcing low income house loans. Credit card company's handing cards out to dogs. CEO's and college presidents getting getting salary's 10 times more than what their worth. Retail company's buying everything they can from overseas. Illegals working at jobs that could be American labor, but company's can't afford Union level wages. Many, many things are to blame. gypsyman

I would like to be able to vote for a politician who has the right principals like Sarah Palen. They don't have to have all the right answers or be glib in front of the camera, I would rather they hire the right experts with the same good principals and then trust them to handle details. Democrat presidents who think they are better generals than the real thing have been responsible for too many young men's deaths.

Unfortunately I am afraid there aren't enough people who think as I do that she could get elected. The media has convinced too many that a politician should fit in the mold that they have created.

bilmac,
It's a given that the media is going to trash anyone who runs against their guy, or gal (any Dumbycrat), so there's nothing new there.  I too would be very happy to have a President with principles--the right principles.  Even the Obamanation has principles, but they seem to change from one moment to the next.  I guess that is the change he speaks of.

It would be nice to think that we could break out of the grip of two parties, but I have to agree with Rush, if we start voting wholesale for 3d parties, we will be killing any hope that conservatives will win. The safe course that we should be doing right now is to pay attention to the Republican party and make sure that good candidates get nominated.
