Help on which 22 pistol

Have held the smith and wesson 22a and did not like the feel(small hands). The beretta neos on the other hand felt great. How are the other 22s (ruger,browning,etc) in comparison grip wise to the two I have handled? Gotta keep the price right around $300. What would you guys suggest?

I would suggest that you handle all of them then choose the one that fits and feels best to you.  Any of the guns you mentioned are well made and more accurate than most people can shot off hand.  If you are looking for a woods gun/plinker/casual target pistol any of them would do just fine.   So pic whichever one feels right to you.

Find a shop that stocks the different 22's and see which one feels best.
Near where I live is a indoor range that rents guns, if one is availablenear you that's a good way to check one out also.
I've owned a bunch of them and never really had a problem with how any felt.

As far as auto's go the only one I've kept over the years has been my old buckmark.
I've got one of the s&w 22a's and like it fine, it shoots real nice with the little scope I have on it.
My current favorite 22lr is a s&w mod 617 revolver. It's a 10 shot and shoots extremely well.

I had really good luck with a Ruger 22/45. It wasn't very picky about ammo, it shot and fed everything well. It was very accurate, too. I wish I still had it. One of those ones I wish I never traded. I liked the grip better than the regular Ruger Mark II grip. Handle as many of them as you can before you decide.

Just lost my Buckmark.  Someone took it.  It was a great little gun, and very accurate.

Thanks for the input fellas. Im goin down to my local shop tomorrow and will probably come home with a new Beretta neos w/6in barrel. If the price is close,I might make it an Inox(stainless).

Had the s and w and the ruger, all good, but the buckmark has been the keeper, scoped out its a squirel getter. Less jams than other too. Rarely need cleaning, the sand w had to stay clean.

have lots of 22 pistols but the buckmark is my favorite. even when i let kids or people unfamiliar with pistols shoot them they always like the buckmark best for accuracy.and thats agin sum quality guns that cost a lot more than the buckmark.

I own 2 rugers and a buckmark--and I have to say--I like all of them--the rugers have a 4 inch barrel and a 6 inch barrel--tapered--and the 6 inch ruger shoots GREAT--the buckmark shoots about the same as the mark 2 ruger 6 inch--I'd hate to have to decide on which one to get rid of

You can get the Browning under $300, bought a Camper for less than that TTL OTD back in May 09 at Academy.  URX model with plain blade front sight. 

Brother bought a new S&W 22A, it would select burst mode on it's own and it had to go back to S&W.  Have shot his Ruger MK1,  22/45, and BM Hunter with Holo site; all shoot good, I find I shoot the BMs better. 

No first hand experience with the Walther but have heard very positive reports from those shooting on the range.

Mechanic, did it get stolen or was it a case of someone close staking a claim and you not resisting too hard?

Just bought another Neos. The last one had a 7" brl w a 2X scope but ended up selling it. Now I had to settle for a shorter brl but still like the action. I owned a Buckmark that fed everything from 60 gn sub to fast and furious rounds. My neos just likes the 40 gn mid speed target rds

Hey guys,

Update: I went to my local shop to get the Neos and they only had the 4inch model. I asked them about ordering the 6in Inox and they told me their distributers were out as well. I then proceeded to check the net (Buds gunshop,impact,etc) and noone had any! I called just about every gun shop in SE MI with no luck.

Well with all the Buckmark praise around here I decided to look into them. I went on Browning.com and found the Camper SS with URX grips fit my taste and budget. So I went to the local shop, called all around, and checked the net again ,and still no luck!

This past weekend I decided to try my luck at a gun show. I drove anhour and a half,paid 5bucks to park, 6bucks to get in, and waded through massive waves of humanity with still no luck. As a last ditched effort, I had noticed that a Gander mtn was just down the rd from where the gunshow was. I had not even thought to call Gander because I had checked them online and they didnt have either gun. Well to my amazement I made it to the handgun counter, walked past the used case, and the very next pistol I saw was the Buckmark Camper SS w/URX grips and fiber optic front!!!!! I scored the only one they had and as far as I know, the only one in SE MI! Got it for $350(not  bad for Gander).

Will let you know how it shoots. Im waiting on the scope rail from Midway so I can slap a red dot on it.

After buying a Walther which was real finicky about what it ws fed, I ended up with a Buckmark.  It was $20 more than a Ruger 22/45 composite MIII but from what I read on this forum was more reliable.  I love the ergonomics as well.

I have a Walther P22, and that thing works with anything you put through it, even new straight out of the box, it even works with standard velocity ammo.
   But my favorite is an old 929 9 Shot, Darn if I can remember the name of the gun ( senior moment). H&R it just came to me,LOL, I'd really like to find a 999, but I haven't even seen one in years.

Can't beat the 999's!!
I have several, prices are really climbing for the nice ones. They will never be Smith's or Colts.
But they are very well built, very good shooting pieces. I am very happy with all of mine!
Better find yourself one, or more!!!
