Picking a handgun
« on: January 01, 2010, 02:39:27 PM »
Not sure if anyone has ever done this before, but have you ever picked a pistol based on the fact that it is easy to reload for?  Or maybe because you could shoot the cartridge in both a rifle and pistol?  Just curious, if so what caliber was it and what were your observations of it?

1.  They're all easy to reload for.  Expense is another question.  For instance, you'll be MUCH more likely to find cheap brass for a 9mm Parabelum than for a 460 S&W Magnum.

2.  Though I have handguns and rifles that shoot the same cartridge, I didn't really pick them with the idea that I needed to be able to shoot the same cartridge in both; it just turned out that way.

357  or  44mag

you  will never run out  of  38  brass
i  pick  up 100  or  more  most trips to the range
tho  i have  half   a 5 gallon  bucket of  38 brass  already

i  like  44  better but  carry  my  357 mag  daily
i have  handi  rifles  in   357/38   44mag   500 snw  to match  my handgun

the  38  sees  the most  action
i  only  shoot  my  own  cast ....  357@180g     44@280   500@440
38  conserves powder  and  lead  and  easyest  to  FIND  brass

i also  have  a  9mm hi-point carbine and  many  9mm hand guns
 but don't like  autos

Not sure I ever picked one for ease of loading , I have however picked them to go with a rifle that I have .

As Grumulkin said , " Their all easy to reload for " , its just a matter of having the proper tool for the job .

Just got the wife a new Kahr in 9mm, because we already have Beretta in 9mm, and it is the cheapest caliber to shoot.  Should also defend us if needed.
