i'm in the market for a .45 semi. i am looking for a heavy semi auto in a .45. right now i am leaning towards a dan wesson patriot but that has not been etched in stone. i like my sig and am considering this also-based solely on reliability. any thoughts from you boys would be appreciated.

.......In a double action type semi in 45acp the Sig has so much going for it in size, reliability, accuracy and quality that I would choose it over any other in double action 45acp's and with just a slight amount of normal tune up work the 220 is close to perfect......for my hand, and use.....only you can decide what you like and need for you.......good luck and good shooting!!

I have both a Dan Wesson Patriot and a Sig P220.  There both excellent pistols. The Dan Wesson is the most accurate 1911 45acp production line gun that I have ever shot ( I have been shooting 1911 for 40 years ). Slide to frame fit is very tight as is the barrel lock up. The DW also has a match barrel and an adjustable trigger for over travel and a proof target. For range use I would go with the DW Patriot over the Sig P220.  Check out the DW review at the 1911 Forum
