model 40 22 hornet rebarrel
« on: January 02, 2010, 08:52:15 AM »
would the model 40 be a good candidate to rebarrel to 17ah?   i dont suppose a barrel from one of their 17hmr models would screw in?

I could be wrong, but I think the model 40 has a pinned in barrel.  Larry

I think (not completely sure) that the 40 barrels are screwed and pinned. The 93 barrels however are press fitted and pinned.

I am fairly sure they are only pinned in.  It isn't much of a task to thread the receiver, but it would cost a few bucks to do.  Larry

I'd be interested in finding out which one it is for sure! I could have sworn that I read somewhere that they were screwed and pinned.

This may warrant a call to Savage! :) :) :)

it sounds like it wouldnt work then huh?   besides the encore \ contender it doesnt look like there is an affordable way to get into the 17ah, and tc actually chambers it for the 17 k hornet instead.
