Need an old style Pacific 20 gauge 6 point crimp starter
« on: October 28, 2003, 07:27:11 AM »
I need to find an old style 20 gauge 6 point crimp starter insert for an old Pacific DL-155.  Called Hornady and they said that part has been out of production for 20 years or so and has been replaced with a new different style crimp starter that I could order.  However ordering the assembly and both 6 and 8 point attachments would be over half the value of the press.

So I am hoping someone knows somewhere that would have one or has one in their junk drawer that they are no longer using or have disposed of the press.

My 8 point is black plastic, about an inch and 1/8 long and has a cone shaped end where it goes into the housing and open on the other to accomodate the size of a 20 gauge case.  On the side it is stamped P 20-8.  It fits loose inside a metal cavity with a ring on the bottom that keeps if from falling out.

I am toying with the idea of making one using some PVC pipe, a MEC metal insert and some epoxy putty, but if someone has one out there or any other ideas, that would save a bit of development.

Thanks,

What 20 gauge parts are you looking?

Plus those same exact 20gauge 6- or 8-point "starters" are still current "parts" on the still-current Hornady DL-366 reloader!

Last time I looked MidwayUSA, Ballistic Products and a couple other sources sold those Pacific/Hornady "crimp starters."  Both 20 and 12 gauge!
