Hi folks,
  I'm sure this has been asked a million times, so I apologize for the redundency.
  I've shot a .22 early Contender for a whole long time, but just now getting into centerfires.  And this week, for the first time, shot a scoped 6TCU off the bench.  Was I surprised!  
  Resting the forearm on a sandbag, and supporting my hands off another bag, that rascal really jumped up!!  But my question is about the trigger pull.  Although I've not noted it heavy shooting offhand, or even the open sighted 7TCU off the bags, it sure seemed heavy with the scoped barrel.
  Do most of you folks use a different frame for your scoped and open-sighted barrels?  Who does the most reasonable and quality trigger job?
  As a sidenote, I  have a nice stock-blank that I would like to have someone carve into a Contender rifle handle.  I've e-mailed Bullberry at least half-a-dozen times, and Virgin Valley twice .  Neither have replied.  I'm surprised, as well as irritated, since what I see on the posts reflect their good customer service.  
  Has anyone supplied your own wood for such a project, and where did you go.
  Hope I haven't violated any protocol with these questions.  Would sure appreciate your input.  Now, if anone could tell me how to steady these old shaky hands!!! :(

Try checking the other posts below.  I have type out the steps to do a trigger job at least 2x in this forum.  A little polishing, cutting of a couple of coils off a spring, and a simple screw adjustment will have you a wonderful trigger.

6 tcu shouldn't jump.  Not enough there to jump.  Ever shoot a .30-30 10"?

Take a couple asprin before you go shoot.  That will rid you of the shakes.

See, that easy.

Hi Steve,
  You didn't mention the fluid used with the pills!!!  No, haven't shot anyting heavier than the 7TCU, but just don't remember thinking it jumped.  But the little 6 sure seemed to.  
  You also mentioned checking the "posts below".  I'm dumb as a board on these computers ( and most everyting else some would tell you!), but I'm not sure how to do that.  Will give it a whirl.
  Thnaks for the quick reply.  You apparently didn't have any input on the inquiries to B.B. and V.V.

I would have to recommend that you phone these folks.  Most answer e-mails when the time comes available,but it is hard to ignore a ringing phone!  One of the reasons I like to fish as much as I do!!!  :)

Is it possible that the 6 tcu has been loaded with a powder that is giving alot more muzzle blast and as a result gives the impression that there is more recoil ??

Try www.gunstocksinc.com, they will carve whatever you send them, into whatever they can. They are now making the BIG SHOT grip and forend that Reinhart Fajen used to produce for the Contender. Richards Micro Fit will sell you a blank of any laminate they make and Gunstocks Inc will carve it for you. They make a beautiful thumb hole sporter for the Contender and G2. I believe they even carve one for the Encore as well. I have purchased from this guy already and his semi-inletted, unfinished is a nice winter project and of good quality.

     Wow, what a bunch of handles!!! :grin: Thanks so much for your input.  Yea, is real possible the load may be stiffer (proportionately).  To be honest, have not yet looked back at my 7TCU loads and the 6's.  However, as is my custom, always start with a more moderate load.  But good point.
  And yes, phone's better, to be sure.  But with today's penchant for cyber business, and the ability to say only what you want, without listening to some old man rant about his cool ideas, well, I think I'd opt for e-mail.  But I'd prefer, any day, to visit ear-to-ear.  In truth, I could have lived my entire put-together without e-mail, anwering machines, and McDonalds!!!
  Will definitely get with the stock folks.
