Mini 14 does the job
« on: January 04, 2010, 05:28:37 PM »
Put a HAR BAR on my 186 series mini 14 GB model. left sights alone and took it out on a quick coyote calling area not far away. 6 minutes i a large male starts coming in left to right at about 120 yards out, I bark at him and he stops. I figure the zero has changed with HAR BAR and I sight in on top of his back and let the 45 grain JHP go. He drops in the front and kicks like crazy, makes it to standing positon and takes about two steps and falls and flops around. I get up walk out to about 40 yards to him and he stops moving, get up to him and round had hit in shoulders alittle forward of point of aim. I took this shot thinking I was gonna miss by a mile at this range so I wonder HAR BAR does the trick and leave sights alone or chalk it up to luck because I never would take this shot open sights with any of my minis and count on a hit.

Nice shot regardless. I'd try some bench rest shots and see how it groups at that distance before I discount the shot. Keep us posted.
