Anyone buy a Pardner or Topper made by the Remington plant?

My question is, has the quality digressed or improved since the move? Looking at a new Pardner, 12 gauge with 28" barrel modified choke.

See the Ilion Satisfaction Poll in the FAQs and Help sticky, there seem to be quite a few problems with ULSH barrels, but I dunno if those barrels came from Ilion or were the last that Gardner produced.

I've purchased two "New York" guns in the past year.  The Pardner Youth 20 gauge for my daughters Christmas present had an EXTREMELY sloppy release lever and is still at Gander Mountain awaiting warranty repair.  My Sporter 22 was shipped out with no rear sight elevator but after a phone call, one was mailed to me at no charge and it only took twenty-seven days to get to my house.

The elevator is just held in place with spring tension, it is that hard to lose. Tell what kind of slop in the release lever, would not open the gun?

Exactly, fortunately I realized it soon after purchase in October and arranged for her to squirrel hunt with a friends Pardner 410 bore.  The action just seemed tight at my dealers, but when I removed it from the box to wipe it down befoore wrapping it up the lever would not compress and obviously the action would'nt budge.

My new Pardner arrived this morning, SB1-011. Came out of the Gardner, MA plant, must have been in stock awhile. I'm very happy with the fit & finish on it. Thanks for the help guys.

I haven't purchased one, but handled a Topper Classic Jr. at Gander last week.  I was not at all impressed.  The barrel was rough and the bluing was very poor.  I couldn't open the action, as it had a trigger lock on it and someone had cocked the hammer.  I have seen used Pardners with many years of use that look better.

I bought one of these from the Ilion plant this past summer. I'm well satisfied with the quality - equal to my two older Pardners. Of course there is no more case coloring, which I do miss.

One minor problem - the ejector would intermittently not eject. Called customer service and they sent out new ejector parts immediately. When I pulled it apart I found some tiny machining chips blocking the movement. I cleaned it and was good to go. The factory lube had prevented the chips from being blown out. Now I have brand new 'spare' ejector parts.   I'm happy with the gun.

AND - it's an H&R (not NEF) - this old-timer really likes that!

There are no NEF single shots being manufactured now, not since about 2007, the only NEF marked products are the imported shotguns.

I'm pleased with the H&R markings as well. My 1st was a topper.
