Chicago PD Dropping Entrance exam.

Such a move will cost the City of Chicago more money in the long run and put the public at risk. Organizations that have lower or drop standards to hire minorities find it very costly. Turnover of the unqualified will be high, the proper training of a police officer is key

If a candidate cannot pass an entrance exam does this mean they are going to dumb down the Basic Police Class so these candidates can make it to the streets.

The training of Dumb Down Officers in the field require a highly motivated Field Training Officer. Does Chicago have an adequate supply of qualified FTO to fill the need? Without incentive pay many veteran officers will not be interested in taking on a Dumb Down Officer. The legal expose is too high.

I do not care about Chicago but I do care any officers that have to deal with the situation.

In the long run the citizens care. They want to be served by the smartest and brightest that make good decisions on the street.

It this is the case the Bar Exam standards should be lowered or drop to make the playing field level in court.

Public safety burned at the altar of Political Correctness. Maybe they got "The Word" from the trend setter in DC? Is it just me or is the whole fabric of the US turning into some sort of Bizzaro reflection of what it used to be? It's as if they ask themselves " What can we do to really screw things up for ever?", and then do it.

Now at last I can fulfil my draem of bekoming a laws in a big phat city lak chicago.
I have wached many TV shows about the laws, I nowe how to do that.

I am a retired Fl. Police Chief that was forced to deal with that particular problem a number of times. An example, after being retired a few years, I decided to become an instructor at a local police academy to return something back to the community. An interesting experience, in Fl. it is all about the money, if you have the money you can attend the academy with the full knowledge of the administrators that some of these people could not pass an elementary school schedule and will never be hired. When teaching law enforcement classes, I had student's who could not read the text books, or understand them . When giving tests, I was forced to explain basic words that should have been taught in a local school. I am also a certified firearms instructor, you would not believe the student's particulary some females who were afraid of their weapons and would drop them upon firing. Law enforcement standards have been lowered to an uncomfortable level for some of us.

I took a civil service exam in a medium sized ohio city for police officer. we were instructed to put the numbers 1 through 4 in the upper left corner of our answer sheets. the numbers ranked female minorities as a 1. and me the blue-eyed white honkey devil , I was a 4. If i recall I scored a 94%, and never heard back from them. Other than the cashed check from my bank, for the fee they charged me to write a 4 on my test.

They had to drop the test becasue the candidates they want as cops there can't pass a 1st grade spelling test, let alone a real entrance exam.

Nice when a cop stops you he may or may not have basic skills . Guess they will give them a book full of bar codes so they can scan in the written part of a ticket now .

Having been to Chicago many many times, with no plans to go back, I would have to say, WHO CARES! I know that sounds cold, and sociopathic, but those people up there are CLUELESS, and don't seem to care. Oh yea, they complain about this, and they complain about that, but they still vote liberal.

During the regime of mayor Marion Berry, DC drastically lowered entrance requirements for DC cops. They did not even do background checks on their new cops, some of whom had felony records. After seven murders were committed by DC cops outside their jurisdictions that changed.

I lived in the far northwest suburban Chicago area from 1976 to 1997. I agree, who freakin cares about Chicago. In those 21 years, I can count on 2 hands how many times I went into Chicago. I hated Chicago the city. Northern IL is okay with the exception of the anti gun laws. Chicago could be reclaimed as the swamp land it once was and it would make me very happy.

Chicago really does color my opinion of Illinois. I like southern Illinois. Nice people. Lots of shooting sports. Pretty good fishing in spots. Hard to believe it's the same state as Chicago.

Years ago a black activist filed suit in lou KY because there were no black sgts on the police force. The city agreed to CREATE a new job for a black sgt. No whites were allowed to apply for the job, all 13 black men who took the exam failed, so they made the highest scoring flunker a sgt. POWDERMAN.
