QUESTION ON TILE GROUT
« on: January 06, 2010, 11:24:33 AM »
I just installed a 12x12 tile floor about 2 days ago,I did grout the floor late in the at night so the gran-kids were a sleep.I used a tile grout called mapei unsanded grout polymer base ran in into 1/4" lines .I found the next day a few spots were showing a few air pot holes(you have to look close to see them)
I wonder since it takes 21 days to cure would I be able to add some more to a couple of imperfection I found in the lines ???
I would hate it to chip off at a later time or just leave it.

I don't think that it would hurt to fill in the holes.  Grout cures better if you keep it damp for a couple of days also.  I use a small rose sprayer and spray a fine mist of water over the grout lines a couple times a day.  How did you install the grout?

You can fill it in with no problem. Look at these places and see if there is a larger bubble down in the crack. If so you need to pick some of the grout from the hole and then add the new in. This will give it a better surface to bond with.

rubber float on a 45 degree angle
I think the sand grout is better to work with.

Since you used a polymer grout, read the instructions.  There should be an answer to your question in the instructions that came with the product.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

1/4" grout joints requires a sanded grout.
