I DON'T LIKE THIS! I moved back south so I wouldn't have to deal with the real cold. I think it's stalking me >:( This is as bad as Indiana only without being ready for it.

I was watching the news the other day , when you guys had the snow and ice in Atlanta..   You guys should stay home when it get like that ... You guys sure can't drive in it.   27 car pile up ??
I drive about 100 Miles round trip every day. This past week I drove it  for two days with out seeing a line one the road.  I was doing about 60mph down the Interstate when a Guy passed me at about 80. Then I saw his License Plate Minnisota. Us Ohioans can drive in the snow . But  They can really drive in the snow and ice.

I've driven for the last 40 years all over these parts for my job.  Often in snow or ice.  I've learned that the best thing is to find a room and take a nap for a while until all the idiots are already in the ditch.  Then you can ease on by and go home.

A few years ago, I was in southern California during a rain storm.  Looked like Georgian's on snow. ;D ;D

i know that 20 degrees and raining cats and dogs (yep raining and below freezing) is cold real cold in southeast texas and i know i can sit outside in my underware at about 0 degrees all day long here in colorado as long as the wind does not blow. the humidity the damp is the difference and you will die in those conditions in SE Texas and will not even worry in Colorado.

It is going down to 5 degrees tonight. They say it will feel like 5 below. It has now stoped snowing here. It has snowed everyday for well over a week. I have better than 14" of snow in the yard as of now. I still can go anywhere I like with my 4 wheel drive truck but stopping sucks. Dale

I drive about 65 miles round trip to work daily. The past couple of days it's been pretty slick. This morning was 15 deg and snow blowing so hard it was hard to see the road. Good thing we got this global warming. We had 5 deg 2 nights ago again, supposed to be in the sgl digits again tonight. Some folks may think they can safely drive 60 mph on this stuff, but they can't stop. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I live in WNC and the power goes out just if the wind blows. Thats why I chop wood all summer and sit warm all winter. My young neighbor thinks 4x4 means 60 in the snow. Thats why his truck is at the end of the road in the creek. Boy was he red when I picked him up in my wife toyota scion. Some people just don't know how to drive in the snow slow and lite on that brake.
If the power goes out and you still have heat and room see if your neighbors ok. Man I would hate my self if someone my down my road died from the cold.

Now, I am not going to get into a which is colder arguement, but, maybe I will-- :P :-\ :D :-*.
I have been everywhere and like Mark Twain said, "the coldest winter I ever spent was one summer in San Francisco."
I have lived in Dallas and walked to school in 20 degree cold in a windbreaker.
I was in the Northeast last year in 34 degree weather and was real comfty in a barn coat.
I have been in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado in cold weather, and it was cold, but I was confty in clothes that I wear in the winter in Houston.
I have been in San Francisco in August and forze my azze off.
Now, this winter in Houston has been the most uncomfortable winter I have ever spent in my life.
It is damp and damn damp and cold and miserable and the cold settles in the bones and hot showers hardly remove the feeling. It is colder at 34 degrees in Houston than it has been in any other parts of the world at 0 degrees which includes Aakron and Buffalo in Februrary.
NOW boys, you can talk about your humidity all you want--but it don't show up on the richter scale like humidity on the third coast here in Houston.

Well William I always knew there was a reason I always hated driving through Houston, and I though it was the traffic  ;D .

About the front pourch, it's enclosed. We turn the frige off in the winter and use the pourch. The freezer is a 55gal drum in the yard.

I grew up in centeral florida and have seen it in the teens and snow twice between 1945 & 1973 when I left there. This past october when I visited it was in the 90s.

I like SE alaska it usually stays between 30 and 60 degrees. Of course we get 200 inches of rain some years. But when it snows the rain washes it away pretty quick. I like snow but not shoveling it.

Well if it freezes you out you can come on up for a spell if you want. Regards,  ;D

I woke up this morning at 0400..thermometer read -15.5  by 0430 it read -16.5...  It's 0505 now and the temp has been fluctuating between those two figures. They say it is "darkest just before the dawn"....that's when it's the coldest also. We shall see..
