Barrel length question
« on: January 06, 2010, 03:16:35 PM »
I am interested in a 22-250 for my Encore and was wondering what the best barrel length would be. There is a 16" ported SS from T/C custom shop at a local gun shop I was considering but don't know if the barrel is too short to use the potential of the cartridge, I understand about the loss of velocity but out to what yardage would 200-300fps really matter?

A 22 to 26 inch barrel will give the full potential of the caliber. Do it once, do it right.

Another thing to consider is the muzzle blast from such a short 22-250 barrel. I'd go with a 24-26" version.

I would say a 24in barrel would suit you better than a 16in
