need source for graphite case neck lube
« on: October 28, 2003, 07:36:05 PM »
A long long time ago I bought a little tin of ultra fine graphite for dry lubing the inside and outside of case necks.  It was sold by Imperial, same folks that made Imperial sizing die wax.  I'm running low of my graphite and wonder where to get more?

I believe Redding now produces the die wax but don't know about the graphite.

I've tried the mica from Midway but I like the graphite better.  I'd be very grateful for any suggestions or sources.  Thanks

If you do a search for collidal graphite you may find a chemical supply house in your area that handles it. It is sold in different micro sizes and can get pretty fine. I have a can of graphite that we use on seed to help it flow better but it's pretty coarse. I don't know if a old blender would powder it up any finer but that would be a option. Either that or use the moly powder that Lyman sells for bullets.
Just some late nite ideas..........

Midway has "motor mica", works for me. I just use a Q-tip to apply the inside of the neck. :D

Any hardware store should have it.  Look with the locks and such, graphite is used to lubricate keyways.

At gun shops and suppliers (Midway, Brownells, etc), look for Imperial Dry Neck Lube.  Same folks make Imperial Sizing Die Wax.
