Favorite loads for Handis
« on: January 07, 2010, 12:29:09 AM »
Post your favorite loads (factory and reloads) and data for your Handi"s here please. While they may not be the best in all of them, it will give folks an idea of what works and doesn't.With the current cost of reloading supplies and ammo it will help narrow down the choices.
PLEASE NO OVER MAX LOADS ;D

There's already a factory ammo thread in the FAQs, replies for factory ammo should be made to it to keep it all in one spot.  ;)

.223 bull barrel with 1:9 twist
27.6-28.0 grains of Hodgdon H380 for 40 Vmax, 55 Varmit Nightmare, and 70 gr Speer. yields 3 shot groups that touch. all about 3000 fps.
(Tried Varget, H335, W748, RL-15. H380 worked for the 1:9, maybe because its a slow burner)
CCI 450 primers

30-06 std 22" with 1:10 twist
57.5 gr Hodgdon H380 with Sierra 125gr Pro-Hunter 81.0 mm OAL. yields a 9 mm c-c group of 3 at 100 yds. no clocked yet.
CCI BR-2 primers

I apologize for going metric there at the end.
