If Texas made it a game with a high school QB, I think that it might be a bit of an overstatement that Bama would have crushed the Horns even with Colt. That's what is fun about what ifs in sports discussions, but I'd guess that, since Bama couldn't touch the freshman kid until the end, and then only because of a missed blocking assignment, having one of the greatest college QBs ever with wide open receivers all over the field and all day in the pocket would have been interesting.
For the record, I had Bama blowing UT away on my pool, but watching the first few minutes, save that unfortunate hit, Bama might have been the one run out of the stadium.
Alabama has a good defense, but I looked hard all night, and I never saw Endomican Suh in Crimson. We'll never know, but with that kind of time (I counted to 4 on almost every drop for Texas), Colt would have likely carved Bama up like so much Sushi. Props to Ingram, and what a tough kid Snead is playing with a couple of busted ribs, but Texas DL spent as much time in Bama's backfield as Ingram did.
Losing a critical player usually has a disheartening affect on his team, and an inspiring affect on the other. Bama manned up in the first half, but looked pretty anemic through most of the second.
Both were great teams, and deserved to be in that game. Congrats to Bama, the better team last night.
