My membership is coming up next month and I understand that the Life membership will go up to $500 next year. Right now it's $400--still a chunk of change for anybody.
Since yearly dues are $35 I figure I'll break even about the time I die. :grin:
By my math it should be about 12 years to get to the break-even point and this supposes that that the yearly dues stay the same. I'm thinking that they will be going up some time in the next few years.
Also see this as a way to support the organization--the more life members there are tell the public that the members see SASS as something worth staying in.

In any event I now get to add an "L" to the end of my SASS number.

Economically, that wouldn't be a strategic move for this old goat. I'll just keep on renewing yearly I suppose. I don't know why they would raise the ante for the life membership, but the excuses they gave seemed reasonable. Plus you don't have to remember to send money in anymore either :grin:

'Course I became a NRA Life member in 63 when it cost $100. And my USPSA Life has paid for itself for a few years now. So guess I'll see if I can live long enough to make SASS work for me, too :grin:
