Stupid Stupid Stupid Someone kick me in the head already

I cant believe it. Rattled in a monster whitetail this morning. I was on the ground and he came in behind and to the right. Got turned on him and he was about 8 yds away. Awesome rack heavy body. Pulled the trigger and nothing. Pulled again nothing, the hammer is cocked back, he sees me and jumps out about 10 yds and i grunt he stops. I pull the trigger again, and nothing. He goes another 10 yds I yell he stops pull the trigger and nothing. He runs off :evil: . Only after that did i realize that i had been pulling on the set trigger the while time.  :evil:  :evil:  :evil:  I could,  I dont know what. Been hunting with set trigger for almost twenty years and have never done that. What a way to learn. Someone kick me. :evil:  :evil:  :evil:

Well, if you kept pulling the trigger, without needing to recock the hammer, congratulations on a major case of BUCK FEVER!  You will remember this and retell the story, more than if you had killed the buck, many of us know!  It will give you something to think about for many years!!  I hope you get him tomorrow!!  He will probably be tough and chewey!!  We can rationalize anything, have fun !!

I am far from an expert on double triggers. However, on my Shenandoah, there is a distinct difference in trigger pull weight between my set trigger & my fire trigger. One is a hair trigger -- the other a real heavyweight.
