California Custom Rifle Maker?
« on: January 09, 2010, 11:21:12 AM »
The other day I found a really nice, but used,  22-250 single shot rifle built with a 1885 Winchester type high wall falling block action.  Stamped on the receiver was the name Reidi Custom Guns, (forget its city), California.  Reidi could have been spelled Riedi.  The action appeared to be of new manufacture.

Anyone know anything about this company and their rifles.  My websearch for this company turned up nothing.

The company wasn't a custom maker, they were a small production company, with their rifles featured in the likes of The Gun Digest in the 1970's-80's.

The name was: R I E D L     R I F L E     C  O.

Riedl rifles are no longer manufactured, and the prices are whatever an interested buyer is willing to pay for one - when/if one comes up F/S.

Prices for a Reidl single shot rifle?  With info provided by Rangr 44, able to confirm what I thought about Reidl making their own version of a Winchester 1885 high wall type receiver for which they had a patent and found some internet posts on Reidl.

A couple of Reidl rifles had sold in the past 3 or 4 years on an internet auction company, both sold for under $500.  Gun store that has Reidl Rifle I came across wants $699 for their 22-250 Reidl with a bull barrel and it is stocked in a nice piece of wood. Only problem I noted with rifle was may be a problem in the bore.  Rifleing worn, but still good, however my old eyes seemed to see a bad spot in bore about 12 inches from end of muzzle.

Any comments appreciated.
