Should be Handgun Silhouette
« Reply #1 on: December 21, 2002, 05:48:14 PM »
IMHO it should be Handgun Silhouette, not just IHMSA.  I enjoy the input of  our NRA brethren.

Seems to be a good place to post, I'm really bummed to hear that shooters.com is folding. I better print out the good reloading info I've found there.

I tend to agree that it should be Handgun Silhouette, IHMSA isn't all there is. However this works, plus I can razz someone. :P

Home at last! Looks good, feels good. Am continuing to work with our IHMSA webmaster to see if we can get a board up there. Will keep you posted on that one. Steve :-D

Looks good from here.  Lots of nice features.  I agree a public board like this is better than one on the IHMSA web site.  Calling it IHMSA Discussion Topics is too narrow in scope.  Recommend Handgun Silhouette.   Happy Holidays!

Hello everyone in our new home (for now). Sorry to see shooters.com disappear...any reason given for their demise?

Welcome to all you new guys.

Just for a bit of history. I had this forum on my old forums which we outgrew and just recently moved to this new forum format because it will handle the traffic load here. I have over 30,000 different visitors per week on average and we serve up over 1.3 million page views per week. Membership doesn't reflect this because I don't require registration to post or to read but if you want to lock in a screen name you have to register.

Anyway on the old forums it was called Handgun Metallic Silhouette I think or something to that effect. At that time the interest was low and most of it was from IHMSA folks. So when we moved it was requested I call it IHMSA. I have no problem with posting both NRA and IHMSA topcis here. I shot NRA myself as there were no IHMSA ranges around me. Was one once but it closed about the time I was getting into it. Dunno what's out there now as I'm no longer active in compettition.

So make it what you wish it to be. We can change the title even if that's what the folks using it would like. Not a problem.

Looks Good to me! Losing Shooters is a great blow to the Shooting Industry and to all people who live and breathe Firearms.
I have been involved with shooters in one form or another since it's conception and I sincerely hope that someone will by the company and continue as normal.
There are going to be a lot of Displaced websites looking for new homes!

Hi all.  I too am sad to hear that Shooters is going by the wayside.  It was a regular stop for me as a viewer and occasional poster.  You guys are a wealth of information, and I am happy to see the new home here.  Thanks Graybeard.  The thoughts expressed earlier regarding a more public forum such as this make a lot of sense to me.  While a board on IHMSA.org would be nice too, a site like this does get more traffic and exposure to other shooters who may be curious about our game.  My vote also goes for a more "inclusive" name, such as "Handgun Silhouette".  Thanks again for the space.

I hope everybody finds this board while the links are still up at shooters.com.  If anybody is keeping score, while I am an IHMSA member and shoot IHMSA events almost exclusively, I think it would make sense to broaden the audience and not have IHMSA in the title of this board.  I wish everone a joyfull and safe holiday season and look forward to seeing the crew next spring.  Elliot

Name Change
« Reply #10 on: December 23, 2002, 08:27:35 AM »
I think we can all agree that GB and Matt have set up an outstanding site for outdoor enthusiasts, espesically for those of us involved in the shooting sports. I'm sure this site will continue to be a "Class Act" as it evolves and grows.

I requested an "IHMSA" Forum in a poll about a month ago, because the name seemed like a good idea at the time. Times and circumstance have changed. Introducing others to the shooting sports, as well as to this site, is a small yet significant way to help sustain our 2nd Ammendment rights. We are all in this endeavor together. I concur that a name change of along the lines of something more inclusive, like the aforementioned "Handgun Silhouette" would be in order if administratively acceptable.
