My CC permit plan for 2010

I decided to take the class for CC here in Ohio this year. I wasn't sure how my wife was going to take that idea!  She is really supportive of my hunting and shooting&reloading pastime and even goes to the range with my 22lr pistol sometimes. But this was a toss up in my opinion if she would understand and support it. Man was I surprised when she listened then suggested we take the class together!  Is she great or what? 

Now I need to convince her we each need a new CC gun!!!

Should be pretty easy to convince her on this one. Get yours first because she is going to end up with it anyway. After she takes yours then you will have no choice but to buy another gun for yourself.

AkHiker:  you're right about that - once she takes the class his guns will be hers.

Jal5:  you might have to change your plans somewhat, to include new guns and more ammo, and new range holsters for you and your wife, and maybe a pair of shooting gloves for her, and good lookin' shooting glasses so she can look way kewl at the range as she just holds her hand out for a fresh magazine - I don't think you'll need to convince her of much of anything after your first couple of visits to the range as she will probably start drawing up a list of new things to get for the next range trip.  Yes, life can be good with the right shooting partner.........

  Don't stop at just the one basic class either!  Too many do this and then think they're covered and know it all.  Makes no sense to invest time, effort and $ into it if you're just gonna skimp on such an important factor (education).  Secodn, when it comes time, let her choose HER gun rather than you choosing it for her.

My wife and I completed our CCW class today. It was well worth it and we both learned a lot. I don't think that she will apply for the permit but she feels a lot more confident in gun handling, safety, and general shooting skills now.  I will apply, definitely.  We are considering taking the advanced course too.

Now for some gun shopping  ;D
I used a friends S&W 38 spl, snubnose today and liked it except for the fact that I have big hands and the standard grips are a little small for me. Anyone else have that problem and what did you do to correct it?

Put a set of Pachmeyers on that j-frame and you will be happy with it.

Personaly i usually carry a 1911 but do carry j frames occasionaly. The grips are small for me too but i dont worry about it. They conseal so well and are such a good little gun that i live with it.

Get a Tyler T-grip for it.  It fills in the void behind the trigger guard, gives you more to hang onto, and doesn't increase the size of the gun - so it conceals much better than larger grips.

Thanks for the ideas for the grips. The Tyler T-grips sound like a good idea, I will look into that.
