Looking for data...
« on: January 09, 2010, 04:38:37 PM »
I am searching for some published data on the 32/20 with heavy bullets. Specfically 120 to 130 grains. More specfically the Sierrs 308dia 125HP and Speer 308dia 130gr SP bullets.

Not looking for home brews here, (Althou I would love to read your storie!)  looking more for published data. I'll go buy that manuel or book etc....

My 32/20 is built on a faster twist than a std 32/20 rate and heavier bullets should shoot better....

A couple years ago Brian Pierce did an article on the 32-20 in Handloader Magazine.  I do believe he listed some heavy bullet loads. Might be able to find it on line.  I just happen to remember it because I was thinking of buying an old Colt in that caliber at the time.

Thanks guys!! EXACTLY what I was hoping for!!!

RG1, I have a couple older SPEER manuals in the bookcase in the attic. I'll head up and pull them down!!

Larry,
I remember reading a article by Lane Simpson (I think) back when the marlin 1894 in this caliber came out. Seem to remember a couple other such stories about the same time.. Thanks for the memory jog... I have all shooting times rags dating back to the late 70's.... I think Brian Pierce wrote or writes for them too...Guess its time to do some looking....

EDIT:  I just found this from PACO... http://www.leverguns.com/articles/paco/3220wcf.htm

Hey Bri!
I'll check on LoadData.com.  It has, or is working toward having every load ever published in Rifle or Handloader magazine plus.

I decided on IMR4227 a Rem 71/2 and both the 130 Speer, 125 Sierra and 123 Hornady bullets...  Now if it would just get into the 30's!!
