which of the williams peeps will fit my 1895 Winchester? it list the FP 71 for the 1886 as fitting reproduction '95's but says nothing about originals.

Have you considered a tang sight?  There are a number of makers out there.

The makers of the new peabody martini single shot rifle have a reproduction of the climbing lyman sight that was offered with the origional 1895 winchesters. Don't remember the site address but try google. Frank

I've got the lyman peep for the 1886 on my '95, so my guess would be the '86 in the Williams would be the one you want. Give Brownells a call, they will help you out with it.

They have the repro of the model 21 Lyman, another option. If I had do do it all over again, an Ashley ghost ring would be it. While I still like the lyman and Williams, I've mounted Ashley ghost rings on a couple of other levers and am finding myself prefering those. Although if your looking for the "period look", the ashley wouldn't be the one. CRASH87

I had a similar question while back, ended up getting an older used steel Lyman 66 peep sight online which used the two receiver side holes.

The receiver peep sight is a good option if one's W95 has one of those new tang-safeties.  Townsend Whelen advised against tang sights for W1895s chambered in higher power, velocity or intensity cartridges.
