Our Corrupt Government is Bankrupting us!!

Our federal annual budget is up to $3 trillion dollars with tax revenue receipts at $2.5 trillion. That’s a $500 billion annual deficit. Here are a few of the big ticket items:

1.   Our DOD annual budget is up to $690 billion of which $130 billion is for the so called "Overseas Contingency Operations" ( Iraq & Afgan nation building).
2.   Health & Human Services: $800 billion.
3.   Interest payment on the federal debt: $700 billion
4.   Dept of Agriculture: $110 billion
5.   Dept of Transportation: $80 billion

Every year since 1969, Congress has spent more money than we have collected in tax revenue. Our interest payment on the national debt is $700 billion a year because our national debt is now up to $12.3 trillion.

We are bankrupt as a nation. If anyone of us had the similar financial status, we would have to declare bankruptcy and we would be forced to cut spending because banks & credit card companies simply won't loan us money to spend. The only difference is our federal government simply prints more money. They are doing the equivalent of counterfeiting. Something we would go to jail for.

I have pretty much conceded to vote 100% Constitution and Bill of Rights ONLY, and more or less, quietly let everyone else continue to vote the lessor of two evils until there is nothing left to compromise away. THEN and only then, maybe everyone will open their eyes and realize they have been "fooled into believing the lie", that there was no other way.
I doubt they will, but maybe they MIGHT. Of course everyone also knows a mite is a little bitty bug on a chicken. I have given up on most Americans. They have turned into a society of compromise-rs when it concerns their rights. They vote in fear, and that is exactly what the government wants. The American voter has become a cowering teeth nasher in the voting booth, and the patriot a radical. That historically sounds very familiar.

So just what is it that makes anyone think it would be any different if we had a six party system?  Politicians are politicians are politicians.  And by the way, we don't have a two party system; we just happen to have two major parties that overwhelm the rest.  Apparently their constituents like the goodies that their Senators and Congressmen bring home.  So let's put the blame where it really belongs.  Blame the voters.

Agree. This is the only way it will change. But I do think we do need to do whatever it takes to slow down the obama social train in the interim before its too late. Registering as an independant helps. During the primaries, voting for the a constitutional/BOR based candidate(s) helps. During the general election, my voting strategy changes.

My voting strategy never changes. I vote 100% Constitution and 100% Bill of Rights, ALL THE TIME. EVERY TIME. I will not participate in an effort to vote away my rights willingly.

I know you feel strong about this Dee and I respect you for that. I feel just as strong but beleive this unfortuniatly has become a war. And in war, you win a battle at a time. Small steps in the right direction can help. I think every office up for grab (battle)  is a story onto itself on what voters like us can do to help. IMO

Cabin, I haven't seen a step in the right direction in years. You guys are foolin yourselves. It's not a war at all. It's a matter of either doing what is right or what is wrong. I am 60 years old and have been watchin this mess get worse, a whole lot longer than you. Like more than a decade longer. When you feel as strongly about it as I do, you'll have quit compromising. To date, you haven't. Your just foolin yourself.
You and others with your voting mentality are voting YOURS, and MINE, rights away thinking that some politician SOMEWHERE, cares about you, and that your just gonna try one more little step, and another, and another, and another. They don't. They have no need to change. They have you, and others like you, to keep them in power. And power is what it's really about.
Your makin deals with the devil here Cabin, and you can either compromise (give to)with the devil, (which is what he wants) or you can look him in the eye and tell him to kiss your a$$.
Cabin, you and the others are going to keep giving our rights away, until they are all gone. Keep compromise (give in)voting sir. Until you compromise (GIVE) that away too, you've certainly got plenty of help. There's nothing I can do about yours and the others fears. I think Ben Franklin was right about those in his day whom felt just like you guys do now. All of ya'll will pay for what your doing, and unfortunately so will I.

you are right as well but we have just witnessed what happens when people buy in hook line and sinker for what is promised by a politician during a campain. third party hopes are high with the tea party crowds and it is gainingg steam but i really doubt it will have the money and so on to succeed as always it has been the problem.

it simply is the most glaring evidence shoved straight into the face of every american left or right of just why you can not believe nor trust any of them. if they do not honor their commitments, so what!, what are you or can you do about it!

It is that attitude and those actions by this administration that has the average person, some for the first time in their lives, raiseing hell about whats going on.

all before lied and failed to do as they promised some werer stopped by legislative means not because they did not try. obama on the other hand just lied to gain the office and has not even attempted to do what he promised.

so what can be done about it...vote him out and vote in who? are they going to do any better? i doubt it. a hell of a choice.

When was the last time a Republican delivered on what he promised? EVEN NOW! Everyone will grab their "lessor of" voting pens come next election, and spend the next two years threatening about what they'll do "next time", but never doing it.
It's like so many young parents of today, saying: I'm gonna count to three, and you had better stop before I get to three. Hell man, he's doin it now!
Voters are in the bath tub swirl waiting to go down the drain. All talk and no action.
It will be a start from scratch effort IF EVER, because "lessor of" voters are gonna vote "this Republic" away. I doubt it will EVER come back. Men are not what they used to be. As I said. Franklin was right.

I've not seen a compelling list. On GITMO... I view this as a good thing. I'm sure Obama wanted to close it, as many of his supporter did - and there is a good argument for doing so. But I suspect that after in power, he learned a bit more, and as chief executive (not candidate) listened to folks in the bidness, and... realized it might not have been the best idea to act precipitously, even if that would make many of his supporters happy. Give the man credit for that?

Ummm...I don't think they're closing Gitmo....likely just moving it. Gitmo is soon to have another use.

The real problem I have is not that they want to close gitmo, but that they want to route these guys through our civilian court system in the process. Allthough I do think closing gitmo is stupid and activating the Thompsen Il super max facility just to support these slugs is even more stupid. But since IL needs jobs, the politicians get to tout this as a job making move......

if you have not seen it nor heard it you must not read the papers or watch TV. as far as GITMO goes they are fools to close something because another country or group of countries want us to. it is simply the most secure and already built facility in the world in whivh to keep them. any attempt to free them by any of their supporters would fail. now that just may not be the case in NEW YORK or whereever. Not to mention the dangers to any civilians around such a facility in the US.

Reagan cut the growth of spending.  The Republicans in the 90's with Newt Gingrich balanced the budget and actually had a surplus for a few years.  Until 9-11 we were on track to pay off the national debt by 2010 or 2012.  The two wars messed that up, then the mortgage meltdown.  We could easily cut the agriculture department and allow farmers to grow whatever they wanted.  We could cut the others percentage wise.  It shouldn't be hard to cut $500 billion.  You could give a tax cut (like Reagan) to the areas of the economy that would stimulate growth and cut spending.  When the economy rebounds, it would balance.

I know it sounds naive but we need to vote ALL of them out of office regardless of what kind of job we think "Our" guy is doing. Then vote out those that replaced them as a reminder that they work for us. Install term limits and a spending cap on election campaigns. Forget the "dems and gop" until they remember us. I know it will never happen it would make a heap of difference.

If your guy is doing a 90% good job, and the other guy running against him is worse, I will vote for the 90% guy, even if a 3rd party with a 100% guy is running.  Can't allow the 40% guy to win.  Most of the RINO's were/are in the more liberal states.

The first thing I do is check voting records of the incumbent, and the political stances of the NEW candidate. In the last presidential election there was a candidate that ran as a Republican that has a 100% pro Constitution, and Bill of Rights voting record. The Republican voters ignored him and his record.
There was a Constitutional Party presidential candidate that fully supported the Constitution and Bill of Rights. And the voters ignored him. AND! There was a Libertarian Party presidential candidate that fully supported the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and once again the voters ignored him also, and BOTH were on the ballot election day.
There was a candidate OTHER THAN a Republican, or Democrat on the ballot for every available office in my home state of Texas, and I voted for them.
Voting for the "lessor of two evils" in no way supports either document. It only means that you as a voter are willing to trade our freedoms away at what ever rate is more appealing to you. And I expect that you will continue to do so. In fact there is no doubt in my mind that you and others will use this method of voting to erode and give away our freedoms until voting is lost also. As I said. I expect it. I am not trying to change anyone's mind because I have given up on that. You and others are so scared to death of throwing your vote away on a Pro Constitutionalist that you will throw it away voting for a scoundrel that is OPENLY everyday getting more control over your lives and your childrens lives. BEN FRANKLIN "WAS", AND "IS" RIGHT. You don't deserve to be free, or secure. You won't fight, you will only compromise, and there are legions of you.

When the Republicans are in control, the liberals squeek, protest, complain, attack, discredit, smear, any Republican.  If they ever get back in control, we need to do the same in the opposite direction to pull the country even further right.  However, our country's laws have always been based on compromises between two sides.  Not always the best, but we have muddled our way along.
