Is it possible to rechamber a .264 winchester magnum in a single shot?

Would it be possible 2 rechamber this round in i single shot rifle? Maybe like in a 1885, or a Ruger no1 or maybe a Handi rifle? I am thinking about building a custom gun, or maybe just having all this done. Just wanted to see if this could be done. I have a .264 in model 70 and really enjoy it. But I would like to have this round in a single shot rifle. Was thinking about getting a custom stalk to.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks

 I beleive Ruger # 1s were made in 264 Win Mag at one time.

To answer your question, yes. The No. 1 will take the pressure and so will the new High Walls. You can also get an Encore barrel for it too. Never owned a .264 Mag, but was always intrigued by it. While in HS in the early 70s, my good friend had a Sako Finnbear. Killed my first game animal with it, a ground hog. Very impressive. Also got my first scope eye with it.

No, the SB2 action isn't made for magnum rifle chamberings.

If you get a single shot Ruger #1 or Browning (Winchester) High Wall in a 6.5mm cartridge you could have it re-chambered by most gun smiths.  Or you could have either re-barreled.  I think you also could get a custom barrel for an encore in 264 mag.  I had a 264 mag Model 70 for many years and recently sold it as I had not used it in 10 years so figured I didn't need it any more.  It was a very accurate rifle but it was difficult to get loads that performed as well as factory loads.  There were only a couple of powders that would work for full velocity loads.  Actually I have a 6.5-06 rifle built on a Sako action that actually performs every bit as well as the 264 mag did velocity wise with most bullet weights until you get to the heavier bullets above 130 gr.  I found that I preferred the 6.5-06 over the 264 mag as it is cheaper to load and does not give up much as far as capacity and velocity for the bullets I use for hunting antelope.

Please consider that:

"Rechambering" means reaming out the chamber area of a barrel only.

"Reboring & re-rifling(usually)" means reaming out the bore area of a barrel only, then cutting rifling into the newly bored barrel.

"Rebarreling" means changing out the entire barrel for another.

barrels get rechambered, not rifles
barrels get rebored & rerifled, not rifles
barrels get rebored & rerifled & rechambered, not rifles
rifles get rebarreled & chambered.

If someone simply rechambers "a" barrel with a .264 Win Mag reamer, AND the bore is anything other than .264"/6.5mm, the result will not be a .264 Win Mag rifle.

Get it made the way you want or you may be able to find a used one for the Encore.

Just a thought and it meets your single shot criteria and would be cheaper than purchasing one of the options you mentioned.
