Not a real mauser

Is an interarms whitworth even considered a real 98 mauser, it's a 375 H&H.

Well a friend has a .243 Whitworth and that one certainly was a 98 action. I worked over the military two stage trigger for him.

Yes the Whitworth Mark 10s are a real 98 mauser action. I have a Mark X 25-06 it is a long 98 mauser action.

Good question; it surely is based on the Mauser 98 design, and is a more or less identical copy...but it is like the various Winchester 92.94,'95, 1885, etc. made in Spain, Japan, Brazil, etc. Are they Winchesters? Becomes a fine point, probably best description would be a "Pattern '98", not that such a term is in use.

Should my rifle say mk. X on it somewhere. And yes the safety is along side the bolt and not on top of it.

They are a real Mauser with a side safety. Kmart sold them here in Canada in the 70s I was a little boy but my eyes popped out of my head when I saw them!
Gee I wished I had $160.00 back then lol. My big brother has 3 of them a .308 a .270 and a 300 win. They make a Rem 700 look like junk the fit and finish are great! Kmart also sold a p17 or p14 Sporterized rifle at that time it also went under the name Witworth just like  the Mark xs did at the time. I have talked to my brother often about the good deal he got on them gun's.
Now them p14 or 17s make great guns for building a real mean thumper but they don't look as good as the little Mausers.
