260rem reloads
« on: January 12, 2010, 05:40:30 AM »
I recently bought a stainless rem model 7 in a 260 rem. I've worked up some loads with 140gr rem pspcl and 130gr accubonds. I was wondering if anyone out there has any success with either of these bullets?

I also thought about trying 140gr accubonds, I have multiple kinds of powder to try such as- H335, H4831, VARGET, IMR 4831, BL-C(2), win 748. Also looked into R-19, or any other alliant powder if I could get my hands on it.

I have a model 7 also that is excellent with 129 gr sst and IMR 4350 and have a 206 mgm encore barrel that will be arriving any day and going to try the 130 accubond and the 120 barnes with IMR4831 and IMR4350 since that is what I have on hand.  The sst bullet has done great on deer out to 150 yd's so far but was thinking I might need something a little better for longer shots, sowhen you find out anything please let us know. :o

I don't understand the use of a poll here as it seems completely inappropriate to the question you are asking so I have locked it. I also don't understand the placement in the Custom Rifle Forum when clearly it's a reloading question so I'm moving it to where it properly belongs and where you should get more responses.

The pole was an accident, this is the 1st post I've put on here. For some reason I couldn't post until i made that, I wasn't sure how to delete it so please ignore it. Thank you for moving it, I screwed up on the post once again.

I bought a 260 on a lost leader add they only had (1) 5-6 years ago for $299 it's a Ruger MKII ultra light in SS the intent was to either resell or trade it, the gun shot so well I still have it, I shoot 100gr Nosler BT and 120gr NP in both cases I use RL-15.

I have killed a number of Pigs with it using the 120gr bullets it's very accurate and was so right out of the box.

The 10 shot group was shots 6 thru 15 it's first time out.
Remember it's where the first bullet goes out of a cold barrel that counts most.
