My Brother used to own one. They seem to be getting few and far in between around here so I took a picture of this V65 sp last summer with my cell phone to send him. I was very suprised to see one!

Sorry john but I've seen very few Moto Guzzis, and know nothing about them other than recognising the brand name. What do you like about them? Are parts & service available? Do you commute or tour with yours?

I had a '73 V7 Sport. The one with the drum brakes. Red. Fast, smooth, great handling. Traded a perfectly-good '72 750 Norton Combat  for it. Those were the days. If I couldn't have either one today, would sure like to have what they'd be worth now.

I like the Guzzi for several reasons. First they are very unique, you are not one of the crowd. It is an attention getter. Rarely can I stop for fuel or anything without someone coming over to look at the bike and ask questions. Other owners as a whole are very helpful and supportive. Most H-D riders respect the brand, never have any qualms about stopping at a "biker bar". Guzzis can have some quirks but once you are aware of them and have it sorted out they are very reliable. For the most part they are easy to work on. You can adjust valves in less then a half hour for example and can use a lawn & garden battery from Wally World for $25. One of the quirks is the in the pan oil filter that requires removing 18 bolts to drop the pan. 95% of parts can be delivered to my door in three days. They are very stable and have good overall handling. Mine was an 850 cc version and now has a 1,000 kit in it. Even totally stock you can cruise all day double up with luggage at 80-90 mph without the bike breaking a sweat. Cruising at 75 mph will get you around 45 MPG. The motor sounds like a Chevy small block with glass packs. My job does not lend itself to using the bike so I just recreationally ride and tour with it. I could go on and on but I will restrain myself.

Some people will even take pictures of them  ::) ::) I would have liked to talk to the owner but did not get the chance to on that day.

I had  Lemans. Like a rocket ship on rails. Two things I did not like. When you ran it thru the gears, the shift from the motor was hard to get used to. I understand this is a trait of the configuration of the motor, but never the less, hard to get used to. Second, like mentioned above, changing the oil filter. Also if you did not put a hose clamp around the base and secure it againt the lug, the filter will screw itself off. Plus side typical Italian styling, outstanding quality.Beats the heck out of anything British, and I have owned every make of British scooter.I've always had a Harley or two and always will.

My wife and I both ride Guzzis, hers is a 99 V11 EV and mine is a Y2K Jackal, we've ridden threw 18 different states with ours and took our first ride of the season yesterday. My wife was diagnosed with hepatitus C 2 years ago and went through a year of horrible chemo therapy and last week was given a clean bill of health, we live in northern Mn. and the riding gods smiled on us with temps in the upper 60s so we went for a 112 mile ride her first in 2 years, now we know she is truly recovered and we still have "big smiles" love our Guzzis.

Moosiah,
The Eldorados are becoming more valuable everyday. If you can bring that Eldo back and running and stock it will be worth several thousand even with poor cosmetics. In the last three years or so nice ones are bringing $8,000 plus. The Eldos have an almost cult following although I really do not care for them much myself. If you need help with obtaining parts let me know.

I know this is an old topic, but I ride an '03 EV (hydro.) I would think replies would be pretty sparse--- Guzzis sure are.
