Sorry about that. I grew up in that religion and knew a lot of good, faithful folks. I also ran into many that were just hateful of anyone who was even slightly different. I still have not gotten the bad taste out of my mouth.
I should not have been so selective, I'm sure it happens in all religions.

Again, I apologize. Also, I do not want to hi-jack this thread, so do a little better job than I have done at sticking to the topic!

There are over 900 people per square mile in Haiti, 83 per square mile here.

cabin, i will be the first to say i have absolutely no experience with earthquakes, and i dont think i want to have any.
regarding the building practices, i had heard the same exact thing as far as methods and quality of the structures. i dont like seeing people suffer one bit, but i do think that we will see more of this as time goes by as i think the world is living on borrowed time. and i think we here are closer to the edge than most people realize.

Not sure now, as to how to look at this situation. After reading about all the help this country has recieved, from both sides of the aisle,(U.S., Cuba,Venezula,Arab countries,)what makes it so different from our own welfare recipients. Seems the more we help them, the more they want and expect. I feel sorry for what has happened, but like an alcoholic, maybe the best thing is to hit bottom. Maybe this is bottom. Do you keep giving drugs to an addict, when after so many try's, they just keep taking them, or do you say no more, cold turkey time. Sink or swim time. gypsyman

Shootall that may be a good idea, but they first have to get the population down. There is less than 1 acre per person in Haiti. The population of Haiti is 9 million. Haiti could not support a population of even half of that. We need to let mother nature take her course.

Anybody that has spent time in the outdoors hunting or fishing, knows there are cycle's in population. To many of one or another, and you have a die off. Diasease,predators,starvation. We've seen snipets of this in Africa,plagues in Europe,Spanish flu 80 odd years ago. Things just leveling off. gypsyman

I really do feel sorry for those poor people in that corrupt country. The place has been ruled by criminal despots for many decades. The US government gives away money to Israel and Egypt to keep them from going at each other. We support "nation building" in areas where it is impossible to build nations. But for some reason we cannot help poor folks in our own hemisphere.

Have watched a lot of TV yesterday and this morning. Collapsed buildings everywhere and there is no re-bar to be seen.

And what does that have to do with the price of rice in China? It appears all you have listed with the exection of DC are capable of living within their carrying capacity, by means of production or trade.
