225-GR ACCUBOND PERFORMANCE

I finally recovered an Accubond bullet. It was a 225-grain bullet shot from a .338-.378 Weatherby at a muzzle velocity of 3,330 fps. The animal was a doe whitetail deer at 392 yards (measured with a Lieca rangefinder). She was quartering away with her head down. According to my computer program the velocity at impact should have been slightly over 2,600 fps. I understand that the bullet would have retained a higher percentage of its rotational speed than its forward velocity. I think rotational speed has a large effect on bullet performance. The bullet entered just forward of the diapham and exited from the neck a few inches below the base of her head. I did not measure but it went through quite a bit of deer. Where it entered the rib cage it bruised an area about 3 inches in diameter. It left about a 3/4-inch exit hole out the neck. On broadside shots on deer at around 400 yards there is usually a 2-inch exit hole. The deer appeared to drop instantly and never move after that. There was a hole in the snow behind the deer and I found the bullet about 10 inches into the snow. Its remaining weight was 222.0 grains.

I shoot 3178 fps the 225 Accubond. I havent shot any thing with it yet. I've heard that the 225 accubond is good for moose.
I used my 338 RUM.

I had similar results with a 200 grain Accubond out of my 325wsm. It was a high shoulder shot on a little buck at about 175 yds. The entrance hole was about 3" or so and the exit hole looked like a normal entrance hole. The deer dropped to the snow instantly. excellent bullet in my book.

I used the 200 AB in 300rum for elk Took two elk at 425yrds. The BIG cow was quar. away the bullet entered behind front rib went thru and exited about 6'' above base of neck. She never took another step. A great big game bullet IMHO.
