I had a 5 1/2" in 45 Colt. I had to turn the barrel because it shot left. I made me some wood blocks that would clamp around the barrel. I wrapped the barrel in a piece of soft leather that I had put some rosin from a baseball pitchers rosin bag on the leather next to the barrel so it would not slip. I placed a piece of masking tape around the barrel up next to the frame and then a piece on top of the frame and drew a line as a witness mark across both pieces so I could see how much I had moved the barrel. I tightened it down in a vise and with the cylinder removed and placed a 3 foot long piece of hard wood that would just fit into the cylinder window. I first un-screw the barrel a little and then with a quick move tightened it back. I had done some calculation on how much I needed to move the sight and it was about the thickness of the sight blade. That is how much I moved it. It worked, windage was right on. I had to file down the front sight a little, made it square on top, and I took some needle files and made the rear notch square. It was very accurate with my favorite load. 250/55 gr bullet with 8 grs Unique. Just before I traded it off to a cowboy action shooter the action base pin started wanting to come loose after firing the pistol a few times. I told the fellow about it and he said no problem. He would get the parts to fix it. I was told that Uberti got all of Colt's machines for making the SSA.
