Just got this gun 2nd hand..... surprised me with a nice trigger.

Thing is I want a diff stock on it and cant find it, I want the H&R Pardner Compact butt stock from the Pardner Compact 410..

Will H&R have to fit this or can I get it on its on some place ?

Welcome! You can order one from H&R (866-776-9292) or post a trade offer in the H&R want to trade forum here, stocks are easily changed yourself, see the FAQs and Help sticky for more info on that and much more.

Yeah I've had a number of the NEF guns before, dont know why they cant just sell you a barrel like TC does ?

So if I call them up they can just ship me the stock, I'd hate to ship it to them for something I can do with my eyes closed.

I'll post my plastic stocks up in the for sale section...

Accessory barrels need to be fitted by H&R or you can fit second hand barrels yourself (FAQS), if H&Rs had the close tolerances that TCs have, they'd cost as much as TCs, you can buy a complete H&R for the cost of a TC barrel!!

Yeah I love the little things.... my fav was a 44mag with a straight laminate butt stock and checkered forearm....

Guns come and go but this little .22 is by far the best yet...

Well uncovered the Lathe today and the little .22 is going under the knife...

Got a 1" sleeve I will be slipping onto my barrel thats now 1/2" dia all the way to 1/2" of the mount lug....

It will end up a 17" long 1" dia bull barrel, add a 12ga forearm and TC open sights and I got a custom NEF !

Also decided I DIDNT like the straight Pardner Compact stock so I went back to the Pawnshop and swapped back my factory plastic stock, I just cut the cheek rest off and thats that...

So after turning my barrel down to 1/2" and cutting it to a final length of 16.5"..... I pressed on a 1" dia steel sleeve.
TIG welded it on and turned down the weld a little, will blend it in better later, I'd like to get a dull finish on it like that of the receiver but not sure of what kind it has ?

So I turned a plain barreled gun into a cheap one off Bull Barrel... so what ya think ?

With it now 1" will I need a 12ga or 10ga forearm ?

Does anyone have an old one lay'n around that wouldnt mind helping me out to get this finished ? I'm slap out of funds for this. Got a compact scope on order and thats that...

A forend is fairly easy to make with basic tools. I have made a couple, maybe you can try it to..

the last one I made for a friend was with two pieces of nicely figured maple with a 1/2" piece of cherry to set it apart. I glued the stock together, cut it to basic shape with a table saw. Ran a groove for the barrel and finished the channel off with an appropriate sized barrel channel tool.

Contact Choate Machine and get a Varmint stock/forearm it fits .920 I have this setup its Great!

Prob is I have no tools to work a channel or thin the wood down other than being able to cut it down with a hack saw.
I only have metal working tools..

And Nightsniper, I would if I could, see I live off of SSDI and the wife is out of work, I only get a few extra bucks from time to time doing odd work welding or machining... yes I have these !

But I really dont like that forearm... I like the wood forearm....

Why not try whittlin' that 2x4 complete with that forearm spacer shape on it. Worst case is that if it doesnt work to your satisfation you can cut it off and add the spacer later. All this might get you along until a forearm turns up.

There ya go!!

I started the barrel channel on the saw, with a shallow "V" cut. Then finished with a barrel channel tool. But a dowel with some sand paper attached. Paint it black with spray on duplicolor truck bed coating and it will look exactly like a synthetic stock!!

Yup, same for Brownell's for a new one, $4.29 for the part and $4.95 shipping, but I always manage to add something else that makes the shipping cost seem irrelevant, something else to consider is their H&R parts are new factory parts, unlike Numrich.

Yeah, Tim, I do that too, but each time seems to make a $100 hole in my pocket.
Call your friends and see if they need anything, then split the S/H per item, it really helps. I usually end up with about $1 to $1.50 per piece that way and it makes it easier to swallow.

Well I got to weld on a nut to the barrel first, make a short forearm say 6" and start working it....
I added some old TC open sights to it and looks like I will need to short'n the front sight blade to about HALF its hight.... but I will wait to see just how low it shoots first....

Well I ran some shorts in it today with out a forearm and it shot like a shotgun with an open choke

I will get the forearm on and see if that helps... I really hope it does. Then I'll try a few diff loads in it.

I did get 5 miss fires out of a box of 50 REM short Golden Bullets !

Rimfires have been notorious for having bad transfer bars, it may need to be replaced, but proper trigger pull is essential for any H&R, see the Handi Basics 101, it causes inconsistent pin strikes which will also cause inaccuracy. Shorts themselves could be the cause of the poor accuracy too, I'd shoot some Lr in it before I would be too concerned.

Yeah I made sure I pulled the trigger fully on it, and yeah shorts are not the best to test with but thats all I had at the time...

Next payday I'll get up some diff types of LR ammo.
