Need taller front sight for Single Six.
« on: January 13, 2010, 02:59:06 PM »
Hey all....Have a single six in 32 H&R....all my different loads shoot high....rear sight is bottomed out & need a taller front sight....would prefer something other than just the standard black blade (old eyes aren't so good anymore).  Have seen the marbles...just wouldn't know which model & height.... Anybody have experience with this issue.  Open to suggestions.  Thanks, Scott

You might see if Ken Light has a extra globe front sight laying around.  Do a google search for "Ken Light Manufacturing".  He used to sell the Bomar Rear sight and globe front sight package for the single six.

You could also do a search for "gypsy distributing" or "bill Boros".  Bill used to sell them also.

One thing to keep in mind is that the sights from the MKII pistol series bull barrels also work on the Single Six. I have a Millett orange ramp front sight for the MKII on my Single Six now. I don't know if it is higher though. Maybe one of the partridge sights would be. Both guns use a screw in one hole to hold the sight on so changing them is easy.

I know you're looking for a different profile, but about 15 years ago, I wrote Ruger and asked if they sold any higher front sights for their Single Six. They responded by sending me a couple of different height ramp front sights for no charge!

Wish I had contacted them years ago.   I've been shooting this SS since I bought it in 1973 and it would only shoot to point of aim with one CCI load...and that was with the rear blade filed as low as I could get it!
