Gunpal.com ??
« on: January 16, 2010, 09:32:24 AM »
I could not find a good place to post this, so if it needs to be moved, go to it.

I saw an ad that said you could pay by gunpal.com.  I had never heard of this before.  Of course, paypal has some restrictions on purchases, but this does not, if legal purchase.  They say they are cheaper than paypal.

This gunpal is the official payment for items on auctionarms.

So, anyone familiar with this ?  Good or bad ?

Thanks, Rodney

Some sellers charge extra since gunpal must have fees for receiving monely like paypal does. I saw one gunbroker seller charge 3% which isn't cheap when you get into the high hundreds for a purchase. You'll find a money order to be cheaper at that point. For a $1,500 gun, the fee would be $45. That's one expensive payment fee and the cost of many oney orders or cashiers checks.

I had my paypal account hacked.
Paypal is owned by Ebay; the response was-- call ebay-- call paypal-- call ebay-- call paypal.......

The hacker (paypal calls them "spoof") site is identical on EVERY, repeat EVERY, thing including link pages to the real thing. (If you can find a phone number check it, a real site always uses an eight hundred type number)

I do not kow if the hackers want to get involved with firearms items, as the feds probably watch such sites, BUT, if they do and you get hacked, unless your payment is set-up so that getting money takes an effort of the -- ...pal-- side-- welcome to hell.

A person I bought from, when I told him why I could not use paypal, told me his experience after being hacked and he told me to run, not walk, away from paypal.

I am not saying "Gunpal" is the same  but be forewarned, any supposed "convenience" is not worth the hell if you get hacked.
Bob
PS-- They got nothing from me and  paypal ONLY respnse was "use a different credit card", plus it took me a month to speak to someone who did not say call the other guys.

Bob,

I know how you feel about paypal. My account was hacked after I used it in Iraq. It took forever to get someone to get the problem to stop. Never did recover my money.
