Went for a walk this morning.  Brought my camera.  Where were they during hunting season?

Isn't that the way it goes....I saw some dandy bucks during early archery and they were never within range, so when gun season rolls around I never see them ???

Sometimes it is all about the way in which we go about looking.  Without a gun, no intent to hunt, cares to the wind, season over, just walking, things happen.  Maybe, when we add a gun and the intent to hunt we boradcast that intent and it changes the care-free attitude and deer pick up on that.

Nice deer.  Like always you see them after the season.

Today was the last day of the season here in my part of Texas.  On the drive out to the farm this morning we had a "horse" cross the road in front of us, he was so big and had so much anthler my son said, "Dad, that reminds me of the deer on the insurance advertisement."  I set in the stand until noon, didn't see a deer, but did get a shot at another pig.  I made a gut shot from about 250 yards so it would go off and die then came and "enjoyed" the Viking/Cowboy game. ::) ::) ::)

Well I started watching the Dallas game and the wrong Dallas team showed up so i turned it off!   >:(

so naturally I wonder how anyone could have enjoyed that game, even if they are Viqueen fans, it wasnt much of a game!  Bret Favre did look good during the part I watched though!

You always see more game when you leave your gun home...it's like a rule.

My money is on the Jets.  I like the Giants, but they always fold.  Besides, their cheerleaders look like me, just a little closer shaved is all...:)

very cool BigEasy,

gotta love it anyway...man the spring time is gonna be really nice...

I ended my season saturday, it officially closed sunday night but it has been so wet I didn't want to get stuck in the dark...

I'm gonna play at my lease a bunch this spring, I can still shoot hogs and varmints.

When I was in college I would go deer hunting with a 308 Rifle and all I would see is tree rats, then I would take a 22 and go tree rat hunting and would have deer walk by.  Since then I started to carry either a 22 Handgun or 44 mag depending and then I would see nothing.  And when leaving duck huntin I would not see ducks but would see deer and treerats but needed an orange hat to hunt.
But would see everything on Sunday when up at the farm (can't hunt on Sundays in NC)
May also have more to do with less people in the woods.
But nice pictures.

absolutely correct! I couldnt agree more.
When I hunt, I try to forget that I'm hunting but that has its disadvantages also. I stood up one time to move to another area, I grabbed my pack & left my gun leaning against the tree. I didnt even notice till I walked the road for a while & saw another hunter with a rifle & snapped out of it remembering that I left it against the tree.
I am in the woods so often that it felt like every other weekend out of the year.
As soon as I let my guard down to eat breakfast opening morning of bow season, a 4x4 walked 12 ft behind me & I was right underneath him lower on the slope sitting on the ground. O well, I wouldnt have been able to enjoy a whole 2 month season if I would have shot him in the first 3 hours on the first day of the season.
I never understood why people are so excited to shooting a deer on opening day. I would be so disapointed that I only got to hunt for 1 day. I hunt for the experience & time out in the timber where all my cares & worries drift away in the breeze. :) just the thought brings a feeling of relaxation.
