EZ-open mod
« on: January 16, 2010, 08:31:27 PM »
I have a 45k serial number frame I am going to send in for the ez-open upgrade. If you have done this, how do you like it? How long did it take?

I have both frames. I like the easy open better. I think that it's trigger is a little harder to rework for a lighter pull. I would call the factory and ask how long it might take.

I went to the website Sunday and found out they can not send it back to me. NV and AZ are looking better all the time.
Thanx lynneil.

I may be showing my ignorance here, or I missed something, but would you care to explain?  I have at least pre-ez-open frame that needs some work and I really don't want it changed over.

I have sent one back to the factory for the ez-open re-do .  I will never do it again, one of my barrels is a 410 and it will not fire on the re-done frame.  But it works fine on my newer frames.  When I called TC they wanted me to send in the 410 so they could do something with it to make it fire.  Buy a newer ez-open frame and you might be happier!!

T/C also told me if I didn't include the barrel for the mod, it would no longer fit. I have eight barrels and two frames, I may not do this.

Here in the Red West [formerly Golden], you can no longer ship a gun for any reason. You must use an FFL, both ways.

California is fighting crime by treating everyone like criminals, except the criminals.

There is an individual in "the Red West", who comes recommended when it involves T/C's.  James Henry, tccraft1@earthlink.net

I bought a replacement hammer off of him last year.  He offered to do the install but I opted to do it myself.  Been thinking of asking him about this frame I'm having trouble with but funds are a little tight right now so I've been holding off.

It might be worth contacting him and maybe you can deliver/pickup it in person.

Thanx Brian, I do have a local smith that I can go to. I was going to do the EZ-mod because I have some tight barrels and that the mod includes all new parts except for the bare frame. These frames have been shot a lot, but are not badly worn and still function fine. I think I will just have one reblued and have him fit the problem barrels. One 44mag 14inch will become a 9inch.
