Is anyone shooting this in their Contender?  Tell me about your gun and about the cartridge performance in pistol length barrels.

I finally got out today to shoot my 17 fireball. The barrel is a 14" SS MGM factory taper.
I just picked a load out of the book for 25gr.horn. bullets for breaking in the barrel.
After sighting it in and moving the target out to 100yds., It was grouping  3 under an inch,
with about as much recoil as a 22 revolver, and the report wasn't bad at all. I'll give it a
better goin over at a later date.

(note to self, don't shoot your buddy's 500 S&W before you try get little groups.!!)

I did not know the recoil was that light!  Thanks for the report.

Mine isn't a TC but rather a Remington Model Seven Predator.

So far I've only shot Remington factory ammo in it the 20 grain bullets. It is giving me half inch groups at 100 yards with the factory ammo. I got a good deal on a bunch of it when I first picked up the rifle so bought a LOT and still have quite a few of them left. I've only used it on paper and on prairie dogs. I've made to trips to shoot PDs with it so far.

Any PD inside 300 yards is just dead rat now. Even if all that is showing is the top of their head that's plenty. Beyond 300 yards the wind really moves those tiny little bullets around so I generally go to the .22-250 when the distance is longer tho I'd really like to find a calm day to see how far I can stretch this little rifle.

I have what is likely a life time supply of components to reload for it I just haven't gotten around to loading any yet as I've not run out of factory loads yet. I really like the little round and I'm sure it will make up into a sweet shooting rifle or handgun in a TC Contender or G2.

I got to shoot the 17 fireball today.  I shot 2, 3 shot groups at 100yds. off the hood of my truck
and got  .52 and .64., with the 25 gr. hornady handloads.  Pretty good for me.
