A learning experience
« on: January 17, 2010, 01:21:21 AM »
The tragedy the island nation of Haiti now faces can be a learning experience for those here who are survivalist oriented. Although news is sparse at the present, more will b e forthcoming in the future..when books are written and military, doctors, aid workers and reporters who were there reflect upon their experiences.
Initially it appears that those in the countryside may have fared better, and with the roving gangs of machete wielding agressors, it appears that "community" and firearms will be very key in any plans of survival..(IMO).

Firearms have played an important part in every disaster here in the US that I can think of. The riots in LA, store owners used them to protect their property, Hurricane Katrina, people used them to protect their property until the city government started confiscating them, which led to a new law preventing confiscation during emergencies. The hurricanes in Florida, people used their firearms to protect their property. I think most every disaster we have had in our land, we have had to resort to firearms for protection against looters. We even use them for everyday protection of our home and loved ones. I won't even think about going to a large city here in my sate without my trusty 45 strapped on under my jacket.  :)
